Alright, alright. Y'all are right (see what I did there?). I'm in the process of removing the skin. Some of it for sure, maybe it'll all come off. We'll see. It's fairly easy so far, with one exception...
I have a Hydro Flame furnace, model ARC-10, that isn't interested in coming apart. Specifically, the vent cap doesn't want to come off. I'm assuming the cap is pressure fit to the exhaust pipe and it's just rusted on. I'm also assuming this is a common problem. I'm hoping there's a solution short of surgery. What I've done so far is sprayed a ton of PBlaster on it and given it a couple of whacks. Now I'm letting it sit over night.
If I have to cut it up to get it off, so be it. But I'd rather keep it intact if possible. I don't even know if it works properly yet, but the look is almost as important as the function.
Having a ball playing with the trailer and reading the volumes of information here. Good times!

Could you provide a photo of the vent cap that won't come off? I've never seen a problem like that.

Ah, the infamous heater vent! Yup, it's rusted in place. Sometimes you can get them loose, but usually not. One pipe piece is slipped inside the other.
If you have to cut it off, try to save each piece. The outside vent can be re-mounted with little brackets.

I've only removed a few heaters and have never come across this problem so it will be good to see how it all works now instead of the frustrating "Discovery" method LOL...

I just wanted a photo so I might recognize the problem in the future when I see one of these. So a photo would still be nice if you don't mind taking the time.

Wasn't intending to be selfish. I'm currently knee deep in disassembly, but I did take a picture of it. I'll post it a little later, along with a bunch of other stuff. I suppose I ought to start a thread in the project section, or whatever it's called. I'll do that them PM you so you'll know when to look.

Two of the caps: Here's the pipe after I cut it off: The rectangular thing on the side of the trailer is the complete unit: I've had about 6 of these heaters and only two released. A combination of heat and rust really welds the exhaust in place...

Thanks Vikx. Now I see what everyone is talking about. I was thinking of a roof mounted heater vent.

Thanks for your pix, Vikx. Here are mine... Vent cap. Had to cut it off. I tried heating it until it was glowing red hot (Mapp gas, love it) but it wouldn't budge. Inside vent cap. You can sorta see how the pipe is pressure fit onto the vent. And cut off. If the furnace works (I still haven't tested it) I'll just splice the pipe with hose clamps. Nice idea with the power port cover, or whatever you call it.

Thanks kmac, I could NOT find the heater vent in a close up. I re-routed the original 14/2 inlet wire into an outlet, then installed a new inlet in the original hole/box. This is just a 15 amp inlet but the trailer now has a 10/2 main to the breaker box. It would be very easy to upgrade to a 30 amp Marinco inlet. Note: the existing new 15 amp inlet is running 14/2 wire to a nearby J box, where it connects to the 10/2 wires. The trailer is 15 amp only at this time. Hope this makes sense.
