I recently ordered a new fresh water tank for my Airflyte which inspired me to again try to get the rusted pipe out of the fresh water filler without breaking it. I tried unscrewing it several times over the last year using a pipe wrench and penetrating oil without any luck. Today I figured out how to get the pipe out without breaking the filler so I thought I would share. Hopefully I'm not repeating someone else's Idea.
First I cut the pipe off about 1/4" away from the back face of the filler. The total length of the pipe connected to the filler was now approximately 1/2" long as there was also about 1/4" that was threaded into the filler. Then I used a small fine tooth metal cutting reciprocating saw blade and hand cut a groove on the inside of the pipe, perpendicular to the threads. I stopped cutting when I could start to see the threads in the bottom of the groove. I then used a vise to squish the pipe on one side of the cut which split the pipe where I cut the groove. (The 1/4" of pipe left protruding was plenty for the vice to grip) The small piece of pipe deformed as shown in the picture which made it easy to remove by hand. Total time about 15 minutes. I hope this helps someone with the same problem. Peter

Used this same technique with my fresh water filler. Glad that someone else thinks the way I do. Usually my ideas get me into more trouble than its worth lol. Worked well and I really wanted to keep it in tact if possible for reuse. Heating would of helped as well I agree.

I've heated several and use welding gloves to work with them when still hot. I clamp the pipe in a vise and gently unscrew the fitting. Of course if this doesn't work, other methods may be safer for the fill.
