I finally managed to get the plastic laminate and edge trim installed. I was able to re-use all of the original metal edging and it cleaned up very nicely. It was in surprisingly good shape considering it's over 60 years old. I used the old dinette table and countertop as a router template for the new pieces and the old curved metal trim fit around the table and the sink opening perfectly. Trim around the sink opening. I'm still looking for an appropriate cove moulding to install along the backsplash and side. The original was plastic that matched the color of the laminate but I think I'll use aluminum as I can't find anything plastic in blue. Kitchen cabinet. Dinette table and overhead cabinet sliding doors. I still need to stall the aluminum shield beside the stove which will slip under the edge of the face trim. I think I have enough blue now.

I finished the kitchen backsplash and started installing some of the fixtures.
Polished the heat shield with Nevr Dull and it came out quite nice. The original range hood got a new coat of paint. I restored the Holiday stove a few years ago.
Original sink installed and the new backsplash. I found some 1/2" aluminum cove moulding to finish off the corners. The magazine rack got a new face but I reused the original frame. The squirrels chewed through the "S" in the original.
New reading light from VTS. I got rid of the original one in 1978 as it was in very bad shape already way back then.

I built new dinette bench bases out of some red oak I had lying around. The old bases and springs were in bad shape and were very lumpy to sit on. Fortunately the original seat covers are in excellent condition with no tears or any sign of wear. They were flithy from 60 years of buildup and furry creature activity however they came clean with a heavy dose of "Fantastic" spray cleaner and a cycle in the washing machine. I decided to go with zig zag springs and 5" of firm foam on top which I copied from my favourite chair. I'm now trying to figure out how to build those wonky hinges that keep the backs up and allow them to lay flat.
Original seat covers. New 1-3/8" x 1-1/2" oak frames with 9 gauge zig zag springs. They will be covered with decking cloth, 5" of firm foam and 1/2" of bonded Dacron batting. I got the spring kit from Galaxy Supply in New Jersey. Bottom view.

Wow. Was wondering about my old spring seats. Keep the coils, or do what you are doing, I think my wood frames are decent enough, will have to check after taking off the covers.

They look great! I have a picture of the old hinges if you need it. (not very good-they appear to be about 6" strap hinges)
It might be fun to add a more fancy hinge...

I have been working on "more fancy" hinges all day! I only had to drive to the orange box store 3 times as my first attempt at them was a failure. I'll post some pics once I get them installed.

Ok I figured out a way to make the offset hinges for the benches. I used 4" L brackets and cut off part of one leg. I solved the mounting angle problem by using an angled wood shim under where the hinge mounts to the frame. Hinge mounted on angled shims. I hammered the end of hinge pin bolt flat so the nut will stay tight. Bench in upright position. The cloth hinge on the covers should end up in the right position with the 5" of foam and batting on the springs. And laying flat.

I got the original bench covers installed on the new spring foundations. It was a very tricky process but it worked out pretty good. They are extremely comfortable and have the feel I was hoping for. Completed dinette benches. Benches installed in the trailer. The lighting is very dark in the trailer so the camera makes the colors look washed out.
