What is the traditional way of securing the dinette table during travel. This would be during the late 50's, 1958 mobile scout. 58Scout table by johnchr777, on Flickr

I leave mine up if the bracket is secure. The photo shows another way; lay it in the sleep position. You can always stick it under the bed mattress in the back.

I'll add that the table as shown in your photo, with the cushions in place, has never fallen on me.

Yep,, provided the hangers aren't upside down the table can not bounce up and out of the hangers. This is why you must tilt the table up so high in order for the hangers to release. Once the table is level those hangers keep it in place.
