My wife and I are new to the vintage camper world, as we just picked up our first vintage camper, a 1965 Terry can ham.
Unfortunately we found more water damage than we where expecting, so the skin needs to come off and it’s a total rebuild to do it right.
I’m very handy but was wondering what to use on the lap joint. I’m not sure if this is the correct term, but it the joint that the skin slip into.
I really don’t want to use caulking I’m going to be using butyl tape on the j rails and window, but really don’t now how solve the lap joint sealing.
Thanks Jim

The skin slips up and into the piece above; no sealant needed.

Thanks for the Welcome.
My wife and I are determined to finish this project and do it right.
It’s been on our bucket list for sometime and you just can’t replace vintage with today’s craftsmanship junk.
We know we paid to much for it, but fast forward it will be a Beauty.
Our neighbor thinks it’s an eyesore,, but what till it finish we keep telling them.
Our lap joints run up and down vertical not horizontal.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
