Finally getting to cutting the ply for the floor. Next steps to fit the wheel wells under the Masonite next to the frame, attach from the underside (this was an original factory design - not easiest install fastening the sheet metal to the wood floor frame and sandwich between that and the metal frame). Make sure the wall well cut outs line up, scribe a cut out or the wheel wells etc… lots of walls up and down to dry fit, before attaching the floor frame to the chassis. The 45 angle bevel edges at the front and back turned out pretty good. Now for the cabinet rebuilds… 80319EBC-6186-4BD5-A7D8-265114FB87E1 by asmay22, on Flickr C7F0A137-32EC-445A-801E-DCBE377634EB by asmay22, on Flickr 006862D3-D327-4163-BF37-48029B6513E5 by asmay22, on Flickr

Looking good. Did you have to pay extra to get a model to hold up your side for you?

Finally got the floor frame bolted to the chassis, wheel wells fastened, and the plywood fastened to the floor frame. All ready for marmoleum sheet, after some Henry’s filler prep. IMG_2135 by asmay22, on Flickr

Just getting to the cabinet design and layout which brings up a few questions:
1.). The walls go on top of the floor not the sides. Should I put the walls over the marmoleum or walls first then flooring? Not sure it makes that much difference…opinions?
2.). Since I’m rebuilding all the cabinets, I was going to shorten the wardrobe cabinet by about 4 inches. From 32 1/2 to 28 1/2. Also shortening the kitchen cabinet to match. This is to accommodate a 53” wide bed vs 48”. Has anyone done anything like this? Actually, we can both fit on a 48” I think we will probably stick with the 48x 74 they are on sale, basically going on the trailer trash to treasure recommendation. Never mind I guess…
Thanks

I don't have any experience with walls on top but Marmoleum is a bit tricky to install if you haven't done it before. I think it would be much easier to install with no walls in the way, especially if your Marmoleum is in sheet form. Peter

I agree with Peter. It's just so much easier without having to go around the cabinets. That's how it was originally built.
Marmoleum down and then cabinets and walls on top. It was faster, easier this way. Faster meant less cost to the factory to pay in labor costs, too.
Marmoleum is expensive. If you want to guarentee that you can apply it without any mistakes which could be very costly, maybe consider having someone apply it that has experience. It might be money well spent.
Getting around the wheel wells could be problematic.
Cheers,
Rod

Thanks guys. I’m going to build a template and cut to that, and put it all down while there’s nothing in the way. Now walls or cabs. It’s a sheet.

Finally gluing down the marmoleum…. I’ll be trimming the edges after the glue dries. I’ll post a pic of the final flooring. We are off for a 3 day bike ride! Each little bit gets me inspired to finish… IMG_0321 by asmay22, on Flickr

I always put the flooring down first. Them mount walls on top. Did that with my Jewel. And that's the way the manufacturers do all of them.

It's looking good. I was poking around your Flickr album and found this photo. I love those right angle clamps. You did a very nice job on you walls. Nice butt joints too on your wall! Cheers, Rod
