Here's a new approach on curved cabinet building. Using a piece of 1.4" scrap, I kerf cut close to the last lamination. Glued the backing around one of the old cabnet frames to see if it would make the radius. Will see after it dries if you can see "lines" from teh kerf cut on the side of the cabinet that shows. Since Im rebuilding all the cabinets (2 kitchen overheads, dinette long overhead (78" wide), and wardrobe (78" high), Im exploring alternatives to all the steam/water bending and jig building...will see. Stove refurb almost done…brown finish isn’t too bad, not sure if it’s going to go with the new color scheme. Might powder coat or leave as is…still noodling on interior colors and exterior colors. 4BC4CBD2-8C3B-43FF-8A90-E259752D45B5 by asmay22, on Flickr

I think the brown finish will look nice with your interior, plus I like the discrete shading...

Your stove looks great and brown is actually a very versatile color. The brown goes great with the amber birch and goes very well with green, orange, blue, yellow and red so you have a lot of flexibility.

Could you tell us exactly where you got your flakes from and is this called AMBER for color??? Shellac has tripled in price lately. I don't know how they can call that 9 percent inflation.

Hey Larry,
Sure. It’s from wellermart. I use dewaxed orange ( called orange..same as amber). And dewaxed blonde for clear. It’s about $20 for 8 oz. You can buy direct from the company or Amazon. Great people to deal with. I jus whizz it up in a garage sake spice grinder, then mix in a cheap magnetic stirrer (or u can do by hand just takes longer). I make a 2# cut, then thin as needed.

I bought a gallon of shellac and gallon of glue last year for half the price. And last week I bought 3/4”x4x8 sheet of birch plywood and that has doubled too. And it took about 30 min to go through the pile at the orange box store to get one I liked.

Looking fabulous @tincanally! Those burners look brand new.
I took off my Jewel decal plate and hope to get the paint off of it this week. Between work and home projects, it will be a slow start for me for a while yet to come.
Love to see the progress. Keep those photos coming.

Thanks 62…yes it’s sometimes a long slow process, with life events stalling the build. Finally finishing the walls. Here’s the final color. Going to get the floor and wheel wells sorted next. 0B05E4F9-2EAB-456E-8061-C334EEF7B187 by asmay22, on Flickr
