I have to agree. One thing that always make me chuckle is leaving the campsite and driving past the long line of campers waiting to dump their black water tanks. Obviously we don't have a bathroom in our little rig. We're more than happy to use the clean, roomy, hardly used bathrooms and showers in the state parks we frequent. That porta pottie sure is nice in the middle of the night though. Awe also take advantage of clean, well lit bathrooms, and a sponge bath is always a possibility, but I’m with you, I’m happy for the porta potty at night!

Oh yes about the porta-potty. Somewhere in my threads about my scratch build, I detailed how I built a pull out porta-potty. It's basically a drawer holding a seat that hovers over our original pee bucket. My wife was amenable to the bucket, but really really wanted a proper toilet seat. She liked what I built.

At risk of straying too far off topic, we aren't the type to camp for the sake of getting back to nature. We do like wooded campgrounds that are quiet but our main reason for a camper is a home base for exploring small towns.
As such we're building a pretty luxurious camper, real bed, real bathroom, comfy seating and a fairly large kitchen area. We drop it, hop in the truck, explore and check out the old architecture, flea markets and countryside.

At risk of straying too far off topic... Now that you sent us off-topic, allow me to roll with it.
My ham has a kitchen, 10" memory foam mattress, heater, charge ports, etc. So I'm guilty of wanting comfort.
At a State park, somebody gave me a tour of his large plastic box camper with slide outs, 4 TVs (one outside the camper), outside high-fidelity sound system, giant generator, Electric jacks, and staircase to get in that electronically unfolds. It was a wonder. $100,000+ of things to fix.
I'll stay with my little ham. A 12 year old with his first tool box could fix everything that ever went wrong with it over the last 8 years and it's going up in value. Although a bathroom would be nice,

We love visiting the Twin Cities in Minnesota, but find it far less expensive to camp in a beautiful Wisconsin State Park only 49 minutes from the downtown. So, a $20/night fee with clean showers is a bargain. What a great way to have it all - city life and nature rolled into one trip.

Joe, That is HILARIOUS! Touche' Your logic makes sense. That's a really nice looking trailer you posted. I am referring to the canned oyster trailer in blue. Cheers, Rod

But the oyster on the cover of the can is shaped like canned ham trailer. Only the can is shaped like a rounded toaster. With that said, I like the name oyster

Gee, thanks fellas. Let's go OYSTERs!
VK, are you with us?
BTW, that painted one I posted is our '63 Friendship Vacationaire that we sold last summer. We modeled our scratch build, Rosie, on her and call her a 2021 Primrose Vacationaire.

Oysters, I love it ! It occurred to me that “canned ham” is one that is going to lose context in the not too distant future. I haven’t seen a canned ham at the grocery store in about a decade.

Have you mentioned "canned ham" to someone under 35 and noticed the blank stare, requiring long winded explanation?

Almost EVERYbody wants their trailer to be a "canned ham" and are likely to call it a "Shasta". NOT.
I placed an ad requesting info on true canned hams for sale: (previously posted)
PICTURES OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN:
I am looking for a vintage canned ham, 50s preferred. 15 feet total or less. (tongue tip to rear) Must have title. OR: Must have registration in States that don't require a title. Original wood panels and interior cabinets; NO interior paint. None, nada, zero, it didn't happen. Original appliances and other parts and pieces. Heavy glamping is less desirable. If restored, photos of said work Sound floor and subfloor No gutted trailers. Must be tow-able
Prefer a "clean" trailer without sealants or roof goop. Not interested in 1970s and newer trailers.
Looking for a TRUE CANNED HAM. (no toasters)
How many did I find? ONE. It was a nice fully rebuilt ham but longer than we wanted and the canned ham shape was elongated. I'd say at least 16 feet.
People sent me photos; some true canned hams with ugly PAINT inside. I'd say 6 or 7. Another lady sent me pix of her ghastly 68 toaster with shiplap interior boards, saying it wouldn't hurt to try... Many more toasters.
Face it: most vintage trailer enthusiasts don't know the difference between a canned ham and a can of beans...
