HI Friends, Wanted to share a rather what I think is a unique Kenskill. Seller was not sure of year of manufacture. They put it at 1955 - 1958. This was on ebay for one week ending on July 6, 2021. It sold for $3,550. I watched the last few minutes anticipating a run up near the close of the auction and surprisingly, there was no bidding action. The last bid was three days earlier and only three bidders had bid on the trailer in the bid history. I very seriously toyed with bidding as no last minute bidding was apparent. But, alas, I have my hands full with the trailers I do own, now. The pix show an interior that is more unusual in a smaller trailer. It's got a lot of bang for the buck and includes a decent sized bathroom. The bed is to the right and up front when you step in and the galley and dinette are in the rear. I love Kenskill trailers of this vintage with their large windows. This one has rounded cabinets and must have been gorgeous as it was towed off the lot. It’s got original leveling jacks, too. It was located in Santa Barbara, CA which is on the coast albeit the dry section of the California coast. Depending on how far inland it was, salt air could be an issue. Enjoy the pictorial. I posted just so we could have the photos here on VTT. Additional photos can be found in this album. flic.kr/s/aHsmW9nSuP This includes a few more interior images as well as underneath the trailer. Cheers, Rod Kenskill 2_f 3_f 3_f 4_f 5_f 6_f 7_f 9_f 13_f 14_f 18_f 21_f 22_f 23_f 24_f 25_f 26_f 27_f 31_f 34_f 35_f 36_f 37_f 40_f 42_f 44_f

Here is the description from the Ebay ad.
NO RESERVE! This will be sold. Here’s a great chance to own a slice of mid-century modern history. Would be a great restoration candidate for personal use, rental on the road or in the backyard, or for the vintage trailer outings. Not an expert, so I don’t know the exact year. I was thinking 1955, now I’m thinking 1958. Regardless, it’s a pretty cool model. Model 16.8 (length). Serial number 816593 (code maybe means 1958, 16.5ft, #93 ?). I think the weight is about 2500 lbs. Here’s what I know. The neighbor passed away recently and I took possession from the widow. I don’t have the time right now for the restoration. There is no DMV paperwork for this trailer. It is unknown the last time it was on the road, so please arrange load on a trailer to transport. I did move it around my ranch a bit soit does roll fine. I can help you load. Overall approx. dimensions: body 14’ long, tongue 2.5’long, width 8’, height 8’, outside wheel width 7’, centerline wheel to back 5’.Please make sure this will fit on your trailer. Exterior Condition 1. Overhead air vent leaked and was removed. The leak caused some interior panel deterioration. Roof now leaks. It has been stored covered though. 2. Lights: missing license plate holder and left rear light. Right is cracked. Side lights intact. 3. Aluminum is in pretty good shape. Just some minor dings. 4. Paint: bitchen patina as is, you can buff or repaint if you like. 5. Windows: Frames look great missing a couple of slats. Door windows is needed. Super large fixed windows really open up the interior. Bath room has privacy slats. Super spacey window cranks. 6. Window screens: I believe I may be missing one. 7. Cool hollow bumper to place your septic hose. 8. Levelers: 4 are there. Need to be oiled to befreed. 9. Tires: hold air but cracked due to age. The moon hubcaps are intact! 10. Undercarriage looks great. 11. Septic cleanout, water inlet/outlet, power brake lines, gas piping, electrical inlet/outlet (has cover too) are intact. 12. Door latch intact. 13. Storage: left side exterior door leads to under bed storage. 14. Emblems: Kenskill aluminum emblem, serial number plate, and TCA plate are in tact. 15. Dual gas tanks. No hold down. 16. 1 7/8” Ball coupler will not slide down to grasp ball. Frozen. 17. Trailer jack frozen, but can unbolt to raise and move trailer. 18. Super cool right and left flag holders. 19. Door handle works great. 20. Slide out step works great. Interior Condition 1. Needs a through cleaning 2. Door panel needs replacement 3. Screen door needs tightening and screen mesh 4. Floors: subfloor seems strong. Will need new flooring. 5. Note the rounded cabinet corners! 6. Paneling: Some hardwood paneling will needed to be replaced due to water damage. This applies to ceiling, walls, and built-in cabinets. 7. The left bench and forward bed area will need to be mounted. It was just placed for photos. 8. Hardware: all original handles, pulls and hinges are included. 9. Lighting: all original lighting is included except for over stove bulb cover. Cool alert: the front overhead light is a propane fed lantern! 10. Refrigerator all there. Don’t lock your babies inside. 11. Stove: Missing in action. 12. Bathroom: Toilet nice condition. Seat slightly yellowed. Clean. Original TP holder. Closet. 13. Kitchen: Original pink counter top with matching black backsplash. Faucets could be buffed out. Original paper towel holder. Original nice cast iron sink I wanted to be detailed and let you know what you were bidding on so that there are no surprises! Hope you enjoy it. The camper is solid and square. This is a great place to start to restore or make a modern mini home. BONUS… if you are the lucky winner, you receive the original 1958 ironing board with actual 1958 newspaper advertisements. Act fast, this offer may expire. Payment due within 24hrs of auction end or will be relisted. Camper must be picked up within 7 days of auction end.

I love the size of this one but no DMV paperwork in CA is a killer. Not really even sure buyer can prove its his to sell as he got it from his dead neighbor. I messaged him anyways and didn't get a reply.

Hi Friends, It's back on ebay as of this morning. Sale fell through I guess. www.ebay.com/itm/174831703417?ul_noapp=true I am seeing some early bidding action. Nothing note worthy, though. Just noticed. Ummmm... Where do you eat? What's with the ceiling patch job just near the bathroom door. If you click on the photo below and enlarge, you can see it better. 24_f Cheers, Rod

Hey Larry, Thanks for taking the time with posting all those pictures of trailer 2. It really helps answer a lot of questions. It does look really very nice the way it was set up in the trailer you worked on. Very Cool IMHO, admittedly I swoon over rounded cabinets. I still maintain this model trailer for it's size is a lot of bang for the space. Seeing the addition of the shower in trailer 2 and the original layout makes me swoon that much more. I am wondering if the gaucho front wall support was moved forward to make a full size bed. The back board for the gaucho is still there in trailer 1. Pity the dinette was lost in trailer 1. Cheers, Rod

Cheers, Rod It was a few years and a longer model later where they incorporated the indented front window system and I can see that there was something on that front wall in Trailer 1. But I don't know what was there or how it affected the bed.

Hi Rod and Larry and others interested in Kenskills. My wife and I inherited a 1957 Kenskill Model 16 in 2012. The trailer was purchased new from Gene Thomas Trailer Sales in Modesto, California and we are the second owners. The first number of the vin is the year (58), the second and third (16) are the Model, and the last three numbers (593)were the number on the production line. There should also be a T stamped after the vin which identifies it as being a toilet model. Ours was a park model with a Monomatic toilet and no holding tank. Zieman Chassis Company manufactured all of Kenskills rolling frames and are serialized with the year (58) and a 3 didgit number sequence off the production line. It is steel stamped on the frame aft of the tongue. The gaucho on the left side across from the door is made up like a sofa and has a plywood base that pulls out and the back cushion slides down to make a bed. The bed across the front is called a Sultans Lounge. The strange looking panel across is actually a framework that is hinged and half of it is padded and makes a backrest and is like a sofa with the un upholstered side forming a wide shelf across the front of the trailer. When folded up it becomes a bed. Since there is no dinette, the solution was a Gaudette folding table. They are almost impossible to find if they are missing, and one sold on ebay several years ago for around $900.00. Hope this information is of help. The only difference I can see from my trailer and the 58 on ebay is the potty room window. Mine is a push open style, and the 58 is a jalousie and is slightly larger.
