Hi Friends,
I think it's worth mentioning: What is the goal at this time? If it's just to get this trailer moving and home, then there is the option to just tow it home with the original axle on it and no brakes. Can you get into the bearing caps to check on the grease or at least add some? If you are able to do that, then once at home you will have more time to decide what you really need/want to do with the axle and brakes.

it's been a crazy path but we finally got the Aljo home from the remote and difficult to access location where it had sat, thankfully sheltered, since ~1966. It was a long search to find a set of rims that would work. Drums and even pads/magnet are surprisingly decent and will work, if we go that way. Repacked bearings. Finally persuaded the rusted jack leg to let go completely, which was critical as the tow out was very rough in spots and the leg was still hanging too low to clear. Sorted out ball hitch and safety chains. Four strong bodies and a trailer dolly to turn and position it on uneven rough ground for fussy hitching on a slope. Quite the blue soundtrack for those hours! After clearing road of overgrowth, we towed it slowly out.
The grown kids of the original owners are willing to navigate the red tape to get title sorted. It's a pain, but doable. That will hopefully clarify whether it's a '57 or '58. I now think '57.
Can't find the 'before' pic of the interior atm. Let's just say it was a really rotten job. There had been rats, and my n95 face mask, gloves and full body covering were needed. Took a whole load of incredibly gross crap out and have a big cleaning job ahead. I've been looking through the site for tips, need to clean disinfect without damaging the birch veneer or floor. The original hammock is in there, in very good condition.
Overall, the move went incredibly smoothly. Sometimes frustrating and stressful, but always fun. We've lots to learn, but it seems like there's still some good bones left in this ol' gal, now perched overlooking a lake. Putting her on blocks today. No delusions about any outcome, just enjoying the journey, and grateful for the generous wisdom on this forum.
Next, a shelter.

Hi Friends,
I have some pix of the interior of the trailer like yours I viewed with the water heater still installed. I will post later. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture taken from inside the front of the trailer like you did to the rear. But, my pix show the original interior. It was never redone with the exception if the cushions.
