“Lumber prices are up 232% and ‘could spiral out of control in the next few months’”
I sat down to figure what working on my next camper may cost. Lumber and aluminum are killers. I figure a ground up restoration with new skin may cost up to $8000 for materials. Not including the cost and transportation of the camper.
I don't see how doing one to sell makes sense at the moment. It's purely a hobby now.

Wife wanted a small greenhouse built. Went to home depot and even their banana shaped 2x3s were $5. We're cruising Craigslist for materials now and have pretty much given up on ever doing another camper.

No wonder that guy was thrilled to get my plywood! I have dimensional lumber (1x3, 1x2, 2x2, 2x4, 2x6, extras) If any of you are in need in the Seattle/North area.

$8.37 for an 8' 2x4?
Amost $27 for a 2x6?
Wow!
I paid $45 a sheet to have 1x8"birch plywood milled 5 years ago because I couldn't find it in NC. I thought that was crazyland. Could it be over $100 a sheet now?

We are wanting to sell and down size our house now that the kids are being kicked out. Realtor lady is telling us to sell our house now and rent for 3 years before we even think about building. There’s a crash coming and it’s gonna be a rough one. We built this house in 07 and a 9’ stud was $1.06 and osb was $8 a sheet. It doesn’t take the head cashier at Walmart to do that math

My tract-home neighborhood was built in the late 60's. As gentrification occurs and new people move in and remodel, I find original framing 2x4's on the curb. Most of them are 8' and still weigh a lot. They just don't belong in the landfill AND they are good quality. Starting to run out of room in the garage! This thread makes me feel better about collecting "junk."

Buddy in Olympia, Washington sent me a pic of a sheet of 7/16 OSB with a price tag of $62.99. In Wisconsin, I paid $25 for one 2x6x12
