I'm looking to get a 2 way fridge that does not require 12volt for the controls. I know most do but it seems these follow-ups to the N300 series may not from what I can see from the manuals. can any real life users out there confirm that 12 volt is not needed.
Thanks!

I bought a New N305 2 way that is not installed yet. I tested it on both propane and 120 volt AC to make sure it was working. My fridge doesn't have a 12 volt connection and the 120 volt connection only runs the heater element. I bought this over the Dometic for that reason alone. I think you need to make sure you have good ventilation for it as it doesn't have a fan at the rear like the Dometics do.

Sweet - that's what I was hoping. I'll be following the installation manual closely and get the vents and baffles put in properly to make sure it has proper air flow and works well.
Thanks for the confirmation!

Mine is an older Norcold 300 that is "3-way". It does not require 12VDC to operate. It works really well on propane, and 110 VAC when shore power is available. I never bothered to wire it for 12VDC because it would deplete the batteries in a very short time. When traveling (something we used to do) we'd leave it on propane which usually worked well, unless the pilot got blown out. That does not happen often. If you are considering "boondocking", meaning extended camping without 110VAC power hook up, I would highly recommend the Norcold reefer.

One important thing to mention about the N305 / N306 is that they don't have a thermostat on the gas valve. When you set the temperature to high, medium or low it just adjusts the flame size. I think Norcold cut corners on that aspect of the fridge but from what I have read, the system works ok once you figure out where to set the control. There is full thermostatic control when using electricity. The manual on the Norcold site explains this in a bit more detail.

The older ones had a gas T'stat and nothing on the 12 volt side. The electric side had a t'stat as well (most of the time)
