Hi everyone! Just purchased a 1968 Skipper, anyone have any info or own one? The interior is entirely gutted so looking for an original floor plan for the inside. TIA

Hello and Welcome! I did a search on a 1968 Skipper and found Alan Hale. Sorry, Gilligan's Island joke. I couldn't resist. I found one online with 4 photos. I can't post a link right now. Search on 1968 Skipper and it should come up. Just a WAG, but the wall to the left of the table is the rear wall of the trailer. The bench cushion represents the streetside rear wall. So, there are probably two benches with each one on top of a wheel well. Looking at the profile picture below, there should be a wardrobe closet typically to the left of the door, however, noting the narrow space between the door jam and the window, it looks like there isn't anything there. Maybe there was a book case there in that gap? Maybe a tall narrow shelf unit. Any evidence left of holes in the walls or left over marks from the cabinets that once supported the trailer inside. The galley (sink, stove top) is probably right underneath the front window with cabinets above, similar to the rear wall upper cabinets seen in the first photo. Not sure where the fridge would be. Look up Shasta Compact trailers (very short Trailers) of the mid 60's and you might see a floor plan that would be similar. AFAIK, the Compacts also had a closet in the streetside front corner. Maybe in the Skipper, there may have been a closet in the corner. I am going to guess the floor plans are fairly close. The cabinets are the what maintain the shape and rigidity of any trailer. No cabinets and the trailer will fall over. It needs the right angle support that the cabinets provide. I have spoken. Rod

What is the length of the trailer without the hitch? Compacts are about ten feet, this looks a bit shorter. There were two other companies that built trailers that were less than 10 feet, but their names and layouts escape me. One may be a Lark. Good luck!

Rod The trailer is gutted inside down to the frame so no possibility of finding holes in the walls for evidence of cabinets. A lot of the framing is also new presumably because of rot. I will make sure there are cabinets to maintain shape and rigidity for sure. Thanks for the great advice!

Not sure if this is any help or not. We rebuilt a 1972 skipper, bigger than yours though. They were mfg. in Lethbridge alberta by Prebuilt industries. they made scamper with little boy above the scamper logo and skipper with a little girl and skipping rope. "Prebuilt Industries at one point or another, manufactured a number of brand names in addition to Scamper including Skipper, Trans Camp, Skylark, Empress Motorhomes, Sportscraft and Conestaga" they were sold later to Vanguard Industries in North Battleford Sask I have seen one as small as yours advertised in alberta and Rod is correct that they were very similar to the compact build. Lila Hi Lila, you wouldn't happen to have a picture of the "Skipper" logo with the little girl? I would be cool to see. Thanks! Carol

Maybe this will help..before and after exterior done. There are a lot of scampers out in Alberta Saskatchewan having been built here. Not as many skippers and people seem to use them interchangeably. There was hardly no difference in the builds of either model just the logo. Scamper had and arch upward with the boy scampering and skipper arched down with girl skipping. Logos in the seventies were front, back and rear on either side. We sold this trailer so no other pictures close up of logo If you are anywhere close to Alberta. Lone pine RV in Red Deer Ab has the breaks to make siding for skipper, scamper, aristocrats, teepee, and triple e trailers .if you are in the states well that is automatic 25% discount since our dollar is down down down. I very seldom post on the forum..I am however a very big lurker fan. We would have been in very big trouble if I would have continued down a path we were going to take if I hadn’t found Larry aka Mobiltec first and his videos then this forum, then Vkx plus her book. I also belong to Larry’s patreon class these people on the forum are a wealth of knowledge Nncamper, teachndad .hamlet, john Palmer ,Vkx and on and on They all know their craft..if they don’t know an answer they’ll find someone on here that does Lila
