In our 1955 Shasta, the PO installed a dorm style fridge but also provided the original icebox. I'm getting ready to purchase one of the 3-way Norcords to replace the dorm fridge.
What do people do with the old original IceBoxes? I assume most people upgrade to refrigerators in their campers nowadays. I was debating whether or not I could get the front skin off and somehow transplant it on the Norcold to keep "the look". Have people used these for other purposes -- maybe beer by the pool?

The original iceboxes don’t have “finished” sides like a fridge does. You could make a box for it and use it for cold drinks outside.

Yeah, the sides are cardboard. It's also got the drain that sticks out an inch or two at the bottom, so you have to either cut that down or prop it up on something while you're at it.

If you plan on using it as a cooler and using an ice block, keep the drain, just set the box up on something to allow for the ice melt. If you build a box for it, you have the chance to add a bunch of insulation top, sides, bottom. That should make the ice last longer.
