Hi! I just bought a 1954 Terry Canned Ham. She’s a little rough.... haha. But I want to drive to New York from Los Angeles in 2 weeks, so I’m a woman on a mission. She was dirty and a little down on her luck. So far, I’ve made new curtains, am covering the cushions. Caulking and painting the inside white and turquoise, she has a cool little stove, if anyone knows the brand - Please share it with me... I have been upgrading the front tongue, new dolly (about to be installed) spare tire holder and new LP tanks and rack.) The last owner put in a beautiful Domentic AC heat unit on roof. It only runs on shore power though. The new LED lights don’t look like they actually got hooked up. The “Ice Box” needs help. May switch it out or just use it for the maiden voyage. I painted all the cabinets and walls white, with turquoise doors and a little bee stencil to reflect on the bees needs right now.’’ I am putting a yellow and white asphalt tile floor down. I just sewed a top buck cot that will double as a dresser. I’ll post more photos as I get things done. Thanks to everyone for sharing their own journey. It will make this transition easier. Stay well and happy.

A lot of effort went into this post. But why?

Welcome!
Did you repair any rot or decay before painting? Safety is the most important thing to consider before a long trip.

I would be concerned about the air conditioner on the roof. 54 canned hams were not built to support 100 pounds + on the roof... You might consider some sort of bracing under the A/C unit while traveling.
Too bad is was painted.
