All I can say is that this type of trailer is fairly easy to rebuild. To try and hurry is a mistake; you need to take your time, study and research as you go. I would start in the front right corner and repair the sills and the doorway. It appears to have some sag to the front. Keep an eye on that.
There is no quick fix to vintage trailer repairs. I would guess shop repair costs could be in the 10K range, because of materials and time involved. (we often clear a dollar an hour on builds)
I'm sorry you are overwhelmed by this. Something ready to go might make you happier. Be VERY careful buying anything; a 90s trailer with rot is no safer than a vintage one. We are always here to help.

So I decided to ride the "Way Back Machine" and revisit your new then Vblog series on the '66 and have to say, who needs TV when you can watch Larry's earlier vids.. lots of humor, and humility when things don't go exactly as planned the first time but end up just fine, thanks in no small part to Bill playing Gilroy.. stuff like this keep me plugging away with Scotty. Thanks again Larry.

Thanks again Larry. That was a fun build and fun to video also. Much more relaxed because it wasn't really a total build series. Just showing some of the things I did to that trailer along the way. Also some good knowledge in there to boot. Glad you like it. You should see my latest struggle... Not to hijack but this one is fun also. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FB98tLv3agE

I'm baaaack! It seems like I only check in a couple of time a year. I have been a bad steward of my Saucy girl. She is sad and sagging. Since I last checked in, she has been in two hurricanes and so many rainstorms. Her tarp is old and torn. She is waterlogged. I shudder to think of what she once was. Last year, we made a push and took off the skins on three sides of her. Joe started to work overtime and we had to put aside our little project. Now, I don't know what to do. I'll be honest. I tried to sell her. No one wanted her at $1k or even $500. Now I have a decision to make. She has to be moved from my friend's property where she has been stored. I called several shops and no one will take her on because she is too old (WHAT?! We were born the same year!!!!!) So, I called a handyman I have used and asked him if I could pay him and some friends to rebuild the wood part of her. Just give us a kickstart to take her on as a project again. I sent him some videos to watch to see if that might interest him. He said he will look into it. In the meantime, we are going to take her apart and move her to another location. She is worth more dead than alive at this point. Should I parts her out and call it a day? Should I try again to sell her? Should I try to find someone to rebuild her? Joe isn't going to do it. People who know are telling me to cut bait. I just have this passion to see her reborn. I am not handy. I can't do it alone. Before she rotted completely, she had her 15 minutes of fame as a movie star. I will post a pic of her moment in the sun. Moviestar Robin by Kimberly Coburn, on Flickr

Is there anyone you know that has a barn or tall garage you could borrow, or maybe someone is renting space in your area? If you could get her under a sturdy structure, a lot of stress would go away. Tarping is painful, and not a great solution for heavy rain or snow. I can picture the pools of water that have built up and gushed down into the trailer when you tried to reset the tarp. Been there. If you can get her in a garage, that stress goes away immediately. This buys you time to regroup too, get your tools and materials in order, and reassess. Maybe selling her off bit by bit does make the most sense. Probably not many buyers out there to take her in whole. But given your passion, I like your idea of getting help, particularly for the stuff you'd be doing for the first time. Getting a handyman to do the woodwork makes a lot of sense, because like you say, that would get you over a hump and you could start to look at other projects that you feel comfortable taking on yourself. If you can get your handyman to let you tag along as they do the woodwork, when combined with the resources referenced here, you would definitely get comfortable quickly and be able to take on part of the woodworking too. Does not solve all of your problems, but a garage or barn would help you figure out your next move with a lot less stress. Best of luck.

I'm very sorry for the water damage. At this point, I would not spend money on this trailer. She is not old enough to recoup your investment. Most buyers are looking for a 50s canned ham or at least a smaller camper. (Ease of towing and resale value) Offer her for free in your area.

Offer her for free in your area. I think everyone involved would be so happy if I did that! I am at the end of my rope.

I spent half of the day looking for something like that to just put her away for a while so that I can regroup. At this point, I just don't know if I can go forward.

At first I wanted to join the group with encouragement as it took many to sometimes get me off my rear end and go finish wiring or keep polishing windows. But it has occurred to me that the stress of watching as your trailer dreams have deteriorated at the same rate as the trailer is probably not good for you. The past two years have shown most of us a side of life no one has experienced before and for some, finding diversions like working on our trailers has been a Godsend, a way of blocking all the scary, sad news around the country, even the world. That diversion doesn't work for everybody, and that's OK. Guess what I'm trying to say is that if this job is too much for you, you shouldn't feel bad about letting it go. Then you could move on and find things in life that bring you pleasure rather than stress.
Not everyone is cut out to build a house, fly a plane, restore a trailer and that's the magic of our own uniqueness. Do what makes you feel good in the end.
