Just a short heads up to anyone planning to attend the annual Buellton Trailer Bash for the "Open House" (Saturday 9/26).
Because of the concerns over the virus, the Flying Flags RV resort will not allow the general public to enter their property this year. They plan to restrict public parking and will require "registered park" ID to re-enter the property. This is a one year policy, and they plan to return to the normal "fun and games" for the 2021 and beyond rallies.
Hopefully, this will save someone the drive up, just to find out they cannot access the resort property, as in past years.

I would not miss it, it's a very well run rally. This was the very first rally I took the Spartan to four years ago. It was road worthy, but nothing was done on the inside.
Sadly, the California rally schedule was a mess this year "even before" the virus hit. We have three great rally's in the state all scheduled for the very same weekend. If the promoters would talk to each other (just my wild guess) we would have three rally's to attend. This scheduling conflict only hurts the people in this small hobby.
Newport Dunes
Buellton Trailer Bash
Trailerfest, Plymouth
I cannot attend Newport Dunes because my 24 foot trailer does not fit into their antique narrow spaces. It's the closest one to my home.
I usually do Buellton one weekend, tow up to Casa de Fruita in Hollister for a few days, then tow over to Trailerfest in Plymouth for a ten day round trip attendings two rallys.
So it's just the abbreviated Buellton this year.

We just got home from the 11th annual Buellton Vintage Trailer Bash.
Here's some observations, as most of you will agree, this past year (March to October 2020) has been very interesting to say the least. We towed through lots of California wild fire smoke as we made our way through Pasadena and Ventura in route to Buellton. The virus has ruined every event schedule this year. People are uneasy about possible health concerns of contacting the virus. When you get well past 70 (like me), or have many other health conditions (like my wife) these concerns over the virus are very real.
From a promoters point of view, how can they make event plans, and purchase materials (like printing custom event T-Shirts) for a trailer rally when the venue can be pulled out from under their feet at the very last minute by either the county/state governments, or even by the trailer parks. It's just crazy.
David Neel, the wagon master of the annual Buellton Vintage Trailer Bash has nerves of steel, and marched ahead inspite of all of these issues and put on one hell of a nice event. The weather even cooperated with him. His events are usually like a three ring circus with lots of thing going on. He was required to cut back on some of the virus safety things by the park. They did not have the Saturday open house for the public this year. Frankly, it was kind of nice, and made the day more laid back. They did the usual scooter, dog, pajama, bicycle parades all with social distancing. We hosted a Spartan Lounge with another Spartan owner and had free drinks to comply with the virus restrictions. I felt that everyone took the safety precautions seriously, and were respectful of others. We had a great time, and still felt safe.
After all of our usual California rally's were cancelled or rescheduled to next year, it was refreshing to get out, hang the rope canvass awning, and talk vintage trailers to our long lost friends. This rally may have been a bit subdue compared to past events, but it was well attended (looked sold out, or almost sold out) to me. IMO, this was a great "shot in the arm" for the vintage trailer hobby after such a bummer of a year.
Lets all hope we get past the virus safely, all maintain our health, survive the November elections, and hit 2021 running. Heck, 2021 is an Olympic year. You now have six months to rebuild and remodel your trailers for next season. Do not wait to place your parts orders, order NOW for next year. I have been finding lots of parts are "out of stock". Home Depot has jacked up their prices, and they are out of stock on many normal every day items.

So glad you had a good and safe weekend. And I'm happy the rally seemed to go of without a hitch among all the hitches that were there. So many of us are in that over 60 risk group and it's good to know that there are still folks out there taking it seriously. And STILL having a good time. I don't suspect the owners of the venue would want to be on the evening news in a week or two as the latest "super spreader" event. We're going to be dealing with this for quite a few more months, so I hope that there are others out there who can learn from Buellton's rally.
