Hello everyone! I am new here and I am hoping someone here can help me out with a brake problem I am having with an older trailer made by a company called Long Haul, which I am guessing no longer exists. I have one brake not working, and a magnet that is 2.406" round and .730 thick. Can anyone tell me where to find a magnet like this? All I really see is oval shaped ones out there. The magnet has a 10 stamped in it clearly, but no other info. The Activation arm has the number 46089 RH stamped in it, but no other info. I THINK (99% sure) the drums are 12" diameter x 2" wide. I would just replace the whole assembly but the backing plate is not removable and I would have to cut and weld and at this point I would rather avoid that. We don't use this trailer for anything long distance. My dad thinks the axles are like what they used on mobile homes to deliver them, basically not made to last forever. I will try to take some more pics of the trailer tomorrow. Thanks in advance for any input. Photos at the link below photos.app.goo.gl/twXsmfKdLbWyoXn97

I have not been able to find the old round magnets in the last several years. (at least 5?) You may be looking at new drums if not a new axle.
If the axles are truly mobil home axles, they are not well thought of. Google "mobil home axles"; there's quite a bit of info out there, including youtube videos.
Sorry not to be of more help.

Welcome!
I also haven't found a source for old brake parts. There is a source for vintage parts (trailertrasher1@gmail.com) but if you want to be safe I'd second the recommendation of new drums/axle.

Thanks guys! THis isn't a trailer we would want to put a ton of money into. I have considered new axles but then I think you get into new rim, etc.. Wouldn't be worth it...

I'd be pretty happy with a used one if I could get it. The wire broke at the magnet, is there any way the epoxy can be dug out and it be resoldered?

I don't think you can fix the magnets. When they get hot, the insulation melts off the wire and even the wire can fry. I had a pair that weren't fixable.

Well, I guess we'll find out! It would seem to me you could use one of the oval magnets as long as it didn't interfere with anything size wise, am I wrong?

If I remember correctly, the oval magnets didn't mount the same way and we couldn't get them to fit. Magnets are hard to modify, as are backing plates.
