I sure hope some of you are still around! Does anyone have more info regarding putting a 205/75R/15 on a 71' Shasta 1500? If I can't get them on can I safely move the axel down to the spring. We I say "I" I mean a shop of course unless some handsome devil in MD wants to come help me.

I have been looking through the brochures I have and cannot find the original equipment size tires that were used for the 1500, but I am making an assumption that the 15 inch should fit on an early-70's model. The 16SC and 1400 from '70 and '71 used 15's.
I have ST205/75R-15 Maxxis 8008 8-plys on mine. They will not go on the trailer under the wheel wells with the trailer jacked up by the axle. I have to jack from the frame behind the axle, and let the axle "hang" from the springs in order to get clearance enough for the wheel to fit up underneath.

Another trick for tight wheel wells is to let the air out of the tire. Even a tiny 12 volt compressor will fill up to 50 lbs.

Thanks for the responses. The guys I hired to pull it to me couldn't get them on b/c it was on soft ground and they advised I don't do it anyway. I'm returning them and going a bit smaller.
