Thetford makes a decent one, which comes apart, and the holding tank section is just carried to and dumped at the bathhouse, using a regular flush toilet to dispose the waste, no dump station involved. Proper use of holding tank deodorizers in it really does hold the unpleasant part at bay. I think that Coleman also makes a variety of portable port-o-potties, and most times these are available at Kmart or Gander Mountain, or any other favorite camping and outdoor stores. I also would not suggest anything as involved as the kitty-litter method.
The biggest question involving the use of the portapotty has usually been, how to incorporate it into your camper. There were some photos on the old board that would make you cringe...then there were others that lead you to say "why didn't I think of that??!!"..... I will add here for all to see...Hamlet's solution to the bathroom or not question is the best anywhere. It does depend on having space that can be used for such, but is a fave.... I haven't seen the progress in a while, but Universalexports was incorporating a bathroom into a makeover of an Airflyte too, with great ideas and fixtures.
By the way, Hamlet, I would think you would have the flyers already printed up and ready for mailing whenever someone brings this question up...it would save your people a whole bunch of typing!

Thanks for all the help...I know I will need more. I just got back from a quick look at 2 Scottie's . Both have bathrooms so if I go with either then I should be set. I'm going back tomorrow for a closer look & a possible purchase.

Did you look at two Scotties? or did you look at two Serro Scotties? I recommend that people stay away from the Serro Scotties for their first trailer because of the complicated floor and ceiling. The little bull nosed Scotty was built with solid pressboard sides and when that stuff get's wet it swells and falls apart. Another fun pitb to deal with.

I'm not too good at this but one was a Highlander & one was the sportsman. Highlander asking price is $700...I don't believe I'd do more than $500. It looks to be in good shape but I didn't look too close as no one was home and I didn't want to push it. The Sportsman is 'ready to Go' as he says...but I saw work I would want to do.....$2200 I wish I could post the pics...let me play with this thing & see if I can.

A caution about the Highlander...it is the model with the vaulted roof and the "skylight", no? If that is what you are looking at, they were notorious for leaking around that skylight window and caving the ceiling in. If you do see it in the daylight, take a long careful look there. Of course water does run downhill (second rule of plumbing), so there can be extensive rot all the way down the wall and interior ceiling from there.
The Sportsman is a cute model, and doesn't have the skylight feature, but is susceptible to the usual edge leaks, so take your icepick with you.

I agree, Scotties tend to be a pain. The walls are plywood and most of the time, a Scotty has to go down to the frame for repairs. It's hard to piece a plywood wall.
Be SURE the $2200 Scotty is sound. Look under the door and poke at the wood on the edges with a pick. Also, inspect the Frame VERY closely on both. The Highlander I had here had 3 breaks in the frame, pretty bad.

By the way, Hamlet, I would think you would have the flyers already printed up and ready for mailing whenever someone brings this question up...it would save your people a whole bunch of typing! Oh, I could do the flyers just fine, but I couldn't get them illustrated. I have three kids' "Hamlet" books ready for editing except I can't even draw stick people, and haven't found someone who understands how we owners anthropomorphize our trailers. Well, that and I can't spend thousands of dollars on art. So doing a potty flier will just have to wait!
