Hi all. I am working on a '65 Shasta Compact, an inherited rebuild. I am assuming that the roof skin was installed in a cool garage probably in the winter in Wisconsin, because it lays nicely on a cool cloudy day. On a hot day it becomes wavy and will flex and pop as it warms up and expands. I would like to use spray foam on the front/top/back (sides are finished), but I am concerned about the movement in the skin on a hot day and not knowing what that might mean for the finished interior panels. Could the roof skin be adhered/taped/fastened to the cross pieces for consistency?

Do you have any photos to share? We need to see what it looks like.
I've never used spray foam as it makes a mess and doesn't provide any structural support. It's a filler and a bear to remove if you have to repair the trailer.
I will be moving this to it's own thread; you may get more answers there.

Is it possible the skin was removed once? I installed mine on a warm day and had to remove and reinstall on a truly blazing hot day to remove the waves.

The people who make and install new skin told me it needs to be over 80 degrees (which is what they heat the factory to before installing) or there are issues like the ones you describe. I think Dan is correct, the skin may have been taken off at one point and put back on a cool/cold day.

Yes the Skin was completely removed and reinstalled on a cold day by the previous owner. Unfortunately we are past the point of really being able to redo the skin so hoping for alternative solutions...

If you frame for and install a roof vent, that will help anchor the roof. Any pix of the roof from the top?
