We are on the last couple coats of shellac on all the cabinet doors, the overhead kitchen cabinets, the front overhead cabinet, and the rear shelf. The first couple coats of shellac have gone on the floor to ceiling cabinet. We also got these back and we are super pleased, they look great! Two new wheel wells and one old for comparison. We finally found this place by googling "Metal Fabrication". They do a lot of the business for the heating/cooling places in town but he says he gets a lot of camper business also. Gwen

We have been busy cutting floor tiles and a LOT of sanding and shellacking of cabinets. There are some days you just need to remember the dream and so I bought these on impulse on Ebay. I just love these older webbed folding chairs with the wooden arms. Someday, these will have pride of place under our striped yellow canopy. (Posted from Flickr)

Great chairs! With aluminum arms, they collapse when a right sizeble person sits down...

We have not posted an update in a while. All the cabinets and drawers except the dinette and kitchen are done (sanded and resealed with 6 coats of shellac). We painted the inside of the wheel wells with truck bed liner paint. We totaled our tow vehicle and had to scramble to find a new one (as it is also our only vehicle). But of all the Connie projects we are tackling, this one has made me the happiest to date. I had no idea if the water hand pump worked but it was one one of the reasons I fell in love with this trailer when we first saw it. It took a bit to get it disconnected from the original copper water line but once that was done it just needed a polish (0000 steel wool). I tested it in a bucket of water and it works great! Smooth and easy. I LOVE it.

We had some pieces re-chromed. The outdoor pieces were badly pitted so it seemed worth the price. The inside of the Bargman lock will be hand polished. It won't have the shine of the outside but I like the idea of retaining more of the original finish.
Bargman Trail Lite
Bargman Trail Lite (underside). It is also chromed on the inside so that the light reflects better.
Bargman outside door handle. This will be fun to put back together.

Bargeman handle envy. That looks great. It is the favorite part of our Friendship Vacationaire, even with its pitted, but cleaned up finish. Too bad they don't make them anymore.

We got one of the two bench seats back today! It is so well done. Sorry for the poor pictures, it is already dark out. But we are just so excited!

Wow. Beautiful, can I ask you how much you were charged Sorry I missed this! We were charged $450 for all three (door plate, door handle, and the license light) It was a bit more because the door handle and plate were very deeply pitted (so pitted that fixing ourselves would have been difficult.) We are happy with how they turned out. Gwen

We are cleaning up the inside plate and handle and it will have the pitted cleaned up look too. Unfortunately the outside was just so badly pitted it would have been really difficult to do ourselves. I actually like the way the old fixtures look just cleaned up. I want there to be character in Connie.

I realized this morning from our posts that it looks like we are moving forward one tiny project at a time. It is hard to document all the details. This is how a frame off restore in the upper midwest with winter coming in a 1000 sq foot home with no garage can look like. All these pieces are done (or just need some minor touch ups). If I turned the camera you would see 17 sheets of our 1/8 inch plywood stacked vertically. Our front bedroom has become Connie's room. Guest bedroom, but the guest is Connie!

This looks amazing! And proof you don’t need a big shop to restore in.
