My work continues on the sub floor. As a reminder, I am piecemealing my camper and am currently correcting a "Shasta" problem from the factory (the sound board and week sub floor). I have the CDX and ACX ready for installment but a new problem now arises. The plywood material has some gaps between it and the sub floor framing. I am not sure why exactly but my guess is that this problem was always here for some reason and that the soft sound board hid this problem since it's material can give a little filling in these gaps. So, when the sound board was replaced with a harder material the gaps now show. I have been cutting, painting and filling in these gaps with furring strips of 1/8 in. Luan material so the floor is level and not waving. I had to use sometimes more than one strip to fill in the larger gaps and even used a piece of ripped shoe molding material in another area where the gap was greater. It seems to me that I am cobbling the project but I knew it was important to level the floor prior to securing it to the frame. Enough rambling. I think it will work out.

I agree this has been one of the most challenging decisions for us too. I think we are going to go with marine plywood as the base and then ACX on the top (1/2 inch each). I know marine plywood is a bit of overkill but the weather in the Great Lakes region has been so incredibly wet/icy/hail/snowy (and that can be in one day) that I think it will be worth it. Are you going to use T-nuts to secure your new flooring? I love the "Shasta" problem. We have found so many but still love this trailer.

I used the T-nuts before and was pretty pleased with the results. I have bought the materials for this already. Just a suggestion if you go this route; buy the bolts that are threaded all the way just in case. Either way you go with the bolts, you can grind off the end flush with the T-nuts. I need to look into whether or not I need to place anything over the T-nut heads or not before the finish flooring. I don't think you have to but I will check anyway w/ mobiltech videos etc. The marine plywood will work just fine for you. Either way will work. I'm anxious to get that front buttoned up before summer's end.

I will be over the moon if we have walls haha!
