I see a lot of questions about finishing and repairing old roofs. We decided to buy a new seamless roof for our 1963 19’ Holiday Rambler. What is the best strategy to seal and protect it?

I think if it's a new roof just prime and paint it (if desired) then putty around the vent and jrail. Done.
Others may have different suggestions.

I agree. If it's aluminum, no reason to do anything but prime and paint. Do not slather roof goop on it! That will ruin your metal. I use Rustoleum oil based paint. Primer is very good, especially on smooth metal. If the metal has a pattern, a foam roller helps.

Thanks! That saves us time and $. We were told to “seal” it with rv roof sealer by someone. Cross that off the list!

I went to Sherwin Williams, bought a good primer especially for aluminum and topped with a high quality "enamel" latex paint. Not oil. Not messy. After 5 years, no wear, fading, chipping, etc.
