Now that my camper functions more as a home office than it does a camper I'm considering permanently mounting a small window AC unit somewhere. Since I don't have 110 going to the closet side of the trailer my best bet is to either put it under the front dinette seat or inside the front cabinet behind the dinette seat back. Both are wasted space now but neither of these are very optimal because either I only get cold feet or it only works with the dinette cushion tilted down. Both will also require active venting to remove the hot air and the front mount will likely have water intrusion issues driving in the rain. Forgive the messy picture since I have a gazillion computers running in here now but what would you guys do?

What about a small portable? You could vent it out the window/door and remove it for Winter... If the trailer will not be moved, you could build a stand for a window A/C and duct the cold air thru a window. A friend of mine did that at the tongue with cold coming thru the front window.

Yeah, I've tried the venting from outside already and it doesn't work well. I think these little units work better when they draw the now-cooler air from inside vs the very hot outside air. Also, much of the cool seems lost in the hose when I do it this way. I'm not sure I'll move forward with this...might just make an adapter to my side dinette window as you suggestand put it on a ladder when needed in the driveway.

We put ours under the rear bed. We use a small fan and point it up moving goalposts the air up to the top of the camper. Works fine. Gets cold and usually have to turn it down. At night we’ll put the fan under the dinette table and point it back towards the bed on its lowest setting. Perfect, sleep like a baby with a fan and the low noise of a ac. I used this method. youtu.be/_ZtcC25WJzo

I watched your video and considered the same except for the low placement and my lack of 110 in the rear. Do you have a picture of the fan you use to distribute the air? Also do you think that there is enough passive air exchanged under the bed through the cargo door to keep the unit happy? My cargo door is pretty tweet so I just butyl puttied it shut and I might have to fix if I do this. I'll definitely have a better AC solution if I ever come across another trailer again

The video is not mine. It’s just the method I used to install mine. I don’t vent out the cargo door. I cut a hole in the floor and separated the fresh and return air just like he did in the video. It’s been that way for 2 summers and it works fine. I will change the unit out for one with a remote. That’s the only thing I would do different. Here’s the fan we use. It’s small and moves a lot of air. During the summer I keep the air running 24-7. I’m always in the camper for some reason. www.walmart.com/ip/Honeywell-Table-Air-Circulator-Fan-HT-900-Black/607094187
