NC I was riveted reading your story of your journey so far. Looks like you have a little angel on your shoulder! Now let's hope it stays there for the rest of your trip! Stay safe and so glad that camper found you!!

Day 6
363 miles today. 10 hours because I took some smaller road to see a little of the countryside and it's my first day towing so I stopped often to check the transport. I saw a 15 foot high metal rooster, a rest area with oil rigs built to shade the picnic tables and a dinosaur made of hubcaps.
Tom, you were right about the wrap. I had it trailing me like a tail at one point. I stopped and wrapped the tongue with it and kept driving. I'm stopped at a Quality Inn because the parking lot was bigger than the Holiday Inn Express but it's not very nice. But now that my REI tent has gone to the Big Tent in the sky, what choice do I have?

I detest 'coons. Up here, they kill our pets and chickens.

I think NC needs to have a better sense of humor about this experience. (sarcasm Implied) Seriously, I am amazed he kept it together throughout all of the hurdles he experienced so far. I remember reading after the flood thinking, " You got to be kidding" Well, he clarified that one, didn't he. Hey, just a thought, but, would it help to take duct tape or 2" blue painters tape and run vertical strips of it every few feet along the walls to help keep all the plastic wrap in place. Just like studs in a wall. Then do the same thing all the way from the very back of the back wall up the wrap and down the front to the bottom of the front wall. dunno. Just thought I would throw that out there. Almost home to hugs kisses and your own bed. May you have good luck the rest of your journey. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Cheers, Rod

You got out of the tent before the tree fell. That's all that counts. You live to restore another trailer. Sweet.

Day 8
I'm home!
It was a great trip. Sure, I almost died...twice. And last night I accidentally turned down a street with a riot. But we can't let little things like death and riots get in the way of restoring vintage campers.
Now I need to finish the camper in the background to make room.

As Dorothy said, "There's no place like home." I can't wait to hit the road again, but now that we have chickens? It may be a while, although a few friends have offered to care for them if we do decide to take a trip.
We're relieved that you made it.

Also hawks, owls and coyotes. Not that we would have any experience with any of the above.

We are glad you’re home safe. You have a wonderful project ahead that already has a book full of stories to tell. And a heartfelt thanks for sharing your positive outlook on life, and a little levity, at a time when this country is experiencing a critical shortage of both.
