Greetings, everyone. I am John Washbush and my 1968 Dutchess and I live near Bloomington, Indiana, just south of lake Monroe, near a nice place to bring your trailers called Hardin Ridge, SRA. The Duchess has been part of my family for only a few months but she had been only a two owner unit before that. The second owner, son-in-law of the first owner, had stripped her clean inside with the intention of making her into a three season mini-home. Along the way his priorities changed and I became her caretaker. I intend to finish what he started and she will become a kind-of short time retreat house for me. I am in the process of converting a piece of forest property into a kind of a day retreat/quiet place. A sunup to sundown spot for friends to come and sit quietly in the outdoors and think and cook a meal and bake bread and roast marshmallows and drink some wine, and listen to my wind chime chorus and watch the butterflies and hummingbirds. At night, we will have a magnificent clear view of the sky and we can sit and count the stars and cogitate possibilities. That's why we will call it The Possibilitist's Place. Too many of my friends say that they are so stressed out that they can't relax. So, with a couple more picnic tables and some nice weather, I'll provide the place where my friends can come and find their own peace. The Dutchess - I suppose I really ought to be calling her the Dowager Duchess now - will be my little private home away from home. So, that's her story. I am a widower and i'm retired with no immediate family. I have had two great lives, one as a banker and mortgage lender, and then I woke up and spent the best years of my life as a professor in a university in Poland. (Don't get me started on Poland!) I'll be 80 on the next birthday, and I have lots of work to get done before before I start to let go of some or all those plans. I am a disabled vet, so I may have to ask my buds for some help once in a while, but so far, everything that needs to get done has been done. I would love to be in touch with any of you who live somewhere/anywhere in the middle between Louisville, KY and Indianapolis, IN. If you find yourself headed for my neighborhood, please say hello and make sure you check out Hardin Ridge, SRA. It is run by the US Forest Service and will be opening for 2020 very soon. Maybe I can look forward to seeing some of you for the Indianapolis 500 next year in 2021.

NCCamper ... I went to Poland in 1997 and there was plenty of the Communist Poland that you must have seen still left at that time. It is really a magnificent, beautiful, modern, up to date place now. The government is carrying out the same kinds of anti-democracy programs as we are getting here. Putin's influence is obvious. But, as far as infrastructure and housing and factories, etc., are concerned, it is a pretty much brand new country. And, it is beautiful. The Poles are very proud of their history so restored historic buildings are all over the place. I promise that this is the last time I will even bring this up otherwise you all will hate me in record time. My heart is still there, though. I made golomki for dinner yesterday.
And, I will scrounge up a few photos as soon as I get straightened away with the posting system.
John

Welcome John, we look forward to your trailer efforts. It will be fun to see what you do with the Duchess.
Your place in the woods sounds heavenly. Thanks for sharing. V

vikx ... You think it sounds heavenly because I didn't tell you about Southern Indian Poison Ivy. A freak forest fire ran across my property four years ago and, as you may have heard, Mother Nature takes advantage of every opportunity she can get. So, I have weeds that are growing 6' tall and poison ivy running wild where the fire went through. I can humbly say that, yes, I do have work to do.

Thanks for sharing the photos. I always liked the fanned metal work on the rear of this type of camper.
