Congrats on your new family member! (Might as well be, you’ll spend at least as much time restoring him/her as you will with your family!). Yes, the wings are not original. I think Hamlet’s are close to 36”. They got smaller after the late 60s. Also, it is absolutely not a 55. You’re right about the shape, and the first model year for the Compact was 1960. There are a very few ones out there that we’re built in 1959 for the 1960 roll out. I’m guessing by the VIN that yours was made in Indiana sometime in 1963 or early 1964. Did you see any letter at all that preceded the numbers?
We look forward to more pictures... we are a bunch of trailer voyeurs here. Especially with the hams, we see fewer and fewer ones sold these days. Read everything you can before you remove ANYTHING that is part of the trailer. And good luck! This is a great “shelter in place” project. Or it would be if one didn’t spend a few hours every day heading to the hardware store!

Definitely one of the earlier models since the frame doesn't go all the way back. 1960 or 1961, give your VIN number to Ross on here, there is a thread somewhere and he can narrow it down for you.

Ross is no longer helping us with the Shasta VINs.

Ross is no longer helping us with the Shasta VINs. Wish he would have left the spreadsheet somewhere where it could be updated as we go...

Ross is no longer helping us with the Shasta VINs. Wish he would have left the spreadsheet somewhere where it could be updated as we go... What all of us can do is compare VINs and years. With all the info we do have available, I think we can recreate a lot of the info. Something to do while we're all staying home...

I dismantled it today, here is a photo of the frame. www.dropbox.com/s/usstfea76ixa97n/IMG_8234.JPG?dl=0 Off to the frame guy for a check out

I think you're missing the back half of your frame. lol Interesting how they didn't use anymore than they had to years ago. Guess it's just enough to hold the springs and axle in place...

This looks like it's going to be a great little project.
