I've stumbled across a 1967-ish Shasta 1500. The guy is willing to sell it to me for $500. Let's say worst case scenario, the frame is starting to rust out, would it still be worth it? I feel like it would be, but you all know more than me.
I'm fully prepared to tackle wiring, woodwork, metalwork, etc., and I'm in no hurry to "get it done by..", so time isn't an issue, either. I guess I'm looking for validation from people that know more than me.
Thanks!

That’s a neat little trailer. You say you “stumbled across” it. Have you been looking for long? Have you read a lot of the posts here or watched mobiltec’s videos?
The good news is that the chassis usually not the biggest concern. When we bought our ham style Compact back in 2009 and took it down to the metal frame, we were surprised to find only a little surface rust.. This is a trailer that had spent its life in the Pacific NW. The magical, high-tech rust preventer they used back in 1959? Tar. Yup, just tar. I suspect they hot-swabbed it on and let it sit to dry before they did the rest of the assembly. It was patchy by the time we got the trailer, so we stripped it off and replaced it with a high tech rust protector. So far, so good, but there are chips from the road that the tar prevented. Hmm.
$500 is a very good price for a trailer that is intact. You can rebuild most anything as long as you have the original as a template. Good luck and let us know what happens.

It sounds like a nice little trailer. Keep in mind that it needs to be repaired from the outside by lifting the skins. That makes a much easier build and you can access all areas that need to be fixed. Research your state's rules very carefully on titles and procuring a new one. Some state's make it almost impossible to procure a title if you don't have one...
