I've pulled the stove and sink out of the Franklin and am going to start disassembling the stove to get the surfaces off to have them hopefully re-porcelain-ed in teal. My issue is the chrome that goes all the way around the stove. I've never had chrome re-done but I know it can be expensive. I'm wondering if I could just have those pieces done in the porcelain as well? There's so much knowledge here, hoping someone might be able to tell me if they type of base metal effects which finish coat I could use?

I had pretty good luck with a ceramic metal finish for those trim pieces - the same finish used on lots of exhaust pipes for bikes. Not exactly the same as re-chromed metal, but much more reasonable on cost.

Google the uses of vinegar and aluminum foil to restore chrome. I found it pretty amazing. Just rubbing some aluminum foil over our pitted chrome with cola or vinegar. It's not perfect but it is definitely good enough for a budget restore.

Old bikers stand by, semi-chrome polish. Pink stuff in a tube, like paste. Great on chrome and stainless etc. Most bike shops have it, or probably find it online. Removes lots of tarnish and such.

Got word back from IP, it's a NO on putting porcelain on the chrome trim. I will try danrhodes suggestion first on a small section, then I'll go to the ceramic powdercoat, I think. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to by sheet metal for the frig doors and send it out for porcelain or take my chances and have it powdercoated locally hoping they can match the color of the stove. I keep seeing that powder coat has a lot of color choices, thinking I could find something pretty close, they will be on opposite sides of the camper. It'd be a lot cheaper just not having to ship that steel.

nccamper, I should have capitalized...Semi-Chrome is the name of the product. A little thicker than toothpaste. DO NOT brush your teeth with it!

I looked around and didn't find any pictures. I used it on my hubcaps which were totally rusty and pitted. It does a decent job of hiding some of the pitting and cleaning the chrome. It's not perfect, but it's cheap like I like it.
