I like our camper because my entire world- bedroom, dining room, bathroom (porta potty) and kitchen- are packed into 12'x7'.

Got the lights on and working. It's fun when the lights come on for the first time.

nccamper, it looks great as always. And my original table is so so heavy, I often need a helper to put it up.

A little late now, but the trick to a lighter table is lighter wood and framing. I've noticed the older tables made of 1 x 6s are much lighter. These "slab" built tables have a couple of braces and the wood was good quality. (holding screws well)
Another light table has a top of the old 3/16 masonite/Formica. The top is glued onto an edge frame of 1 bys and sometimes cross pieces. This type of table top will warp badly with too much moisture and tend to sag in the middle.
I copied a nice table in my Deluxe with a piece of good plywood and braced underneath. I was lucky to find old and well made ply which can be impossible to find today.
My 57 Shasta table weights a ton. It is in great shape after 60+ years. Heavier tables LAST.

The Airflyte table is bigger than our Forester. I wondered if some of the plywood could be routered away from underneath? It would weaken the bed but might shave 1/4 off the weight.
I'll move slowly and finish this summer. Nobody will be camping before then.

Oddly, my Deluxe table wasn't that big. It also weighed less than the 1500 table. Could you put slats across to help support the bed? Maybe add some supports to the dinette...

I guess you could build up the dinette slightly to match thinner plywood and 3/4" slates. Or drop down the side rails that the bed/table fits in to accommodate the slates. Interesting.
I guess it all comes down to who will be sleeping in the front bed. Two 40 pound children or two 200+ pound adults.
A stationary table that's on a pedestal makes the most sense for my wife and I. We never camp with anybody else in the 12' long canned ham.
At 34"x40" and 23 pounds it's a workout.

That's a huge table. Are the dinettes that big as well?

The front bed on the Airflyte is 3'5" and the length is almost 7'. Very roomy.

The table I replaced wasn't the original but the side supports on the dinette benches would only support the full table, not slats. I bet Shasta changed it as time went on because of the weight. --
Larry, beautiful work.

Larry, That camper gives me inspiration. You have been for many years at the top of the restoration and the instructional camper hobby but your latest campers are over the top. They are so beautiful. Thank you for all of your posts, videos and photos.
