So not all today of course, but last couple of weeks I've been working my way down the trailer, completed the marker lights, and just added decals. Before: IMG_3672 by Tom Myers, on Flickr IMG_3673 by Tom Myers, on Flickr After: IMG_4053 by Tom Myers, on Flickr IMG-4055 by Tom Myers, on Flickr And starting with the street side skirts. Pulled them knowing there was rot where the old hot water heater was, guessing it did not have a door on that compartment for years. IMG_4047 by Tom Myers, on Flickr But holy cow, the rest of the sill and framing at least street side looks great. IMG_4045 by Tom Myers, on Flickr Need to start work on the sill and floor around the hot water heater, but was able to get the panels painted and replace the rear street side panel. Before: roof corner by Tom Myers, on Flickr After: IMG-4056 by Tom Myers, on Flickr Need to mount the panel permanently, but rainy here today so got it stapled, need to bend and tack the bottom of the panel under the sill. Had something like roofing nails before, think I might go with short drywall screws.

tcpm5000 I would double up on those seam screws where that roof seam is in the first photo. On the Mainline I went with inch and a half between each screw. Lap seals tend to separate in the hot sun so you need to tighten up on the spaces between the screws.

I was finally able to get in the Rancho to work on the trim around the refrigerator. Several months ago we bought a retro looking dorm fridge, and I have been chipping away at getting it installed and trimmed out. My last dorm fridge worked well except that it did not have a separate freezer section. Last trip out, or Klondike ice cream bars were more like chocolate covered milk shakes... Cold, but not frozen, even though they were sitting directly on the cooling plate in the "freezer". New retro fridge has a separate freezer section. I started to secure it the same way that I had the old one. Metal L-brackets screwed to the case, and then screwed to the face frame of the cabinet and covered with the trim. First bracket went fine. Second bracket, not so much. Drilled right into the cooling coil in the freezer section. Duh. Expensive mistake, that one was. Bought another fridge, and completely changed my mounting method. I now have eye bolts through the bottom of the cabinet and a ratchet strap over the fridge. Other than having to cut a hole in the inner wall of the cabinet to reach the ratchet it went smoothly. Pics soon...

Rod, had to do some of that in my Rancho, too. I took the roll of wax paper out of the pantry to put over the wood to keep the clamp backers from sticking. I think I made a clean get-away on that one, my bride never mentioned the missing wax paper, lol!

Hi Friends,
Posting a variety of things that occurred in the past few weeks.
I completed filling in and sanding the screw holes on my Westerner floor. I lost almost 5 hours on this project because of a mistake I will never admit to in public. Talk to me over the campfire at a rally and I will tell you. Next is finding a Marmoleum pattern that I like...
Last week, I picked up a new axle for my Shasta 1500 that I had ordered, but come to find out, I didn't have the spring hangers. We had everything else and were ready to go. So, it's delayed. I also took a very old set of trailer tires I had and mounted them on new rims to go with the new axle. The trailer will sit for the foreseeable future and the only trip it will make on those old tires is a trip to DMV on city streets 5 miles away or to AAA less than a mile away.
Cheers,
Rod

Hi Friends, I am currently quarantining in my Rod and Reel so I spent the night in it already. I had mild symptoms the past 4 days, but they are all gone now. Waiting for a PCR test result due today. I am feeling fine now, just separated from my family. Currently cozied up inside with running water, fridge, microwave, electricity, heater, my laptop and phone and the internet. This trailer is used for trailer rallies, so I have all the creature comforts of home with the exception of a shower and a bathroom. Got the porta potty though, which gets the job done, LOL. I can catch up on emailing friends. Walked over in the mud to the storage shed and managed to loosen 3 out of 4 flat blade head mounting screws to remove a inoperative condenser fan on a Marvel Fridge I am working on. It's for this trailer. Talk about a test of patience and contortions. After an hour of trying literal work arounds, I got access to all 4 screws to be held back by the one - a stubborn beast. I enlisted the help of one PB Blaster to help. I am crossing my fingers in hopes that it helps. I am not a successful contortionist. Inside the Rod and Reel, I have a few door clips that need replacing, so I can do that, too. Almost all of them have been replaced previously.
Update: I overcame the obstacle of the stubborn screw with a pair of vice grips. I win.
Cheers, Rod

Remember; forget what they told you 10 yrs ago, you're supposed to hang around with negative people these days and stay away from the positive ones... Whitney

Retro fridge install complete! I finished it up a couple of weeks ago, but I'm just getting around to posting pics now. IMG_20211127_101611621 by cozwurth, on Flickr I had to install a vent into the pantry to allow airflow through the fridge compartment via the small electric fan I installed when I put the first fridge in. It works well as I can feel a very slight amount of airflow through the vent on the other side of the fridge compartment. IMG_20211228_171534071 by cozwurth, on Flickr Next project will be the longer awning rail, but that will probably be in the spring when the weather warms up a bit. Edit: Wow... I just noticed that you can see part of the oven in one of the pics. In that pic it looks really dark, much darker than the fridge. In reality it is a MUCH closer match. Crazy lighting in the camper, and the phone's flash evidently do not play well together.

Hey cozwurth, I like he way you framed the refrigerator, what material did you use, wood or something else?

Hey cozwurth, I like he way you framed the refrigerator, what material did you use, wood or something else? Sorry for the late reply... I used wood. I started with a 1x4 and ripped it to width, and then planed it down. I don't remember the exact dimensions, but the width had to be wide enough to cover the opening beside the fridge and have enough left for the screws.

Thank you. Also, where can I see interior pics of your trailer?

Got the floor done on the 54 Jewel. I had a problem though. The white tiles were thinner than the black tiles. Much thinner. I don't know why and have never had that happen before. I'll be talking to Home Depot this morning about it. Luckily I had some light beige tiles lying around that matched up in thickness to the black and got the job done anyhow.

Larry, that's so typical of products these days. The thin white ones must be "newer" than the black ones. Check out today's toilet paper rolls compared to even last year...

I love the off-white tiles. White and black can sometimes look stark. These soften the black and blend nicely with the denim blue. Hmm. I never took Hamlet to be a decorator!
