... putty knife type blade on that rock hard stuff that you are chipping away on the window. Putty knife worked great on window #1... #2 I was not as lucky. My first broken window.
Well if the glass won't come out then you need to break it anyway LOL.... Glass is cheap.

This is exposed roof/ceiling framing which will also cover the seams in the wrap for the 47 Mainline. I milled these myself out of dry doug fir 2x4s. They are 1 full inch thick and 1.5 inches wide. I couldn't find any full one inch thick material anywhere so I just made them myself using the cheap Harbor Freight 12 inch table saw, the cheap 10 inch HF chop saw and the cheap Ryobi 12 inch planer. To get the detail I used the cheap HF Router. This is the first of 6 coats of shellac.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone! Trailers are bundled up for the winter so I've been spending some time looking for parts and planning for warmer weather. Hope everyone is having a great beginning to the new year!

Got a long weekend thanks to Holiday tomorrow (MLK day). Wanting to go down to the barn and do some work on the camper, wouldn't you know it, temps in the teens next few days. Figures.

During our trailer build I bought a 2nd hand door from a guy parting out an RV. I replaced the core with a hollow-core interior house door, and painted it all over, hoping that would weather proof it. The carboard-like door was no match for our humidity and rotted out in a few months.
I just finished the new door core, it's 1" thick poplar plywood (2 layers of 1/2" glued together), primed with latex primer, exterior is painted with enamel paint, interior has chalkboard paint, no window. It weighs a ton but it should last a lot longer. The aluminum frame/hinges seem to handle it just fine.

Got the curb side wall framing of the 54 Jewel finished. In this photo I'm testing the accuracy with the floor to ceiling cabinet next to the door. I missed a bit but an easy fix. My students are watching me rebuild this trailer. It's our class project.

This side is giving us fits. I think it’s the gigantic clamp my husband made to keep it from falling down and square. We probably should have taken the walls off, but we wouldn’t have known that the studs didn’t line up with the cabinets. Hopefully we get a couple little bitty studs in today.

You have a good template. Just piece meal it together one piece at a time.

I can’t believe it didn’t fall apart when we pulled it out of the desert and down rough and bumpy roads to get it home. We really hope to finish it by November so we can take it to Telluride, CO. Wish us luck.

Wish us luck. Well all you really have to do is get the metal on and make sure most of the cabinets are in place to make it safe to move. I did that with the Super Shasta. I didn't even cut the windows out until after I got it to it's new location. Worked great. ADVICE... Never lock yourself into a dead line. It will cause you to make more mistakes and make the job painful every time you make one. I take each trailer one part at a time. I concentrate on the one part and then I move on. That way I stay happy.

I got my 1954 RCA Victor Desktop TV working real good. I also have all the episodes of I Love Lucy on DVDs. So this tv will be displayed in my 54 Jewel and playing I Love Lucy episodes at the rallies... I'm also finishing up the last of the cabinets on the jewel so I'll be building new walls next. Then once the walls are up the wrap goes on and we're in business. Photos of cabinets soon. Mr. Ed was in black and white too! Also The Andy Griffith Show.

I would love to have some dvds of those shows too.
