Tree pollen season seemed to be pretty much finished here, so yesterday I washed the camper, and today I spent about 4 hours waxing. I usually wash it every couple weeks in Spring thru Fall, and wax twice yearly. More if the paint starts looking pale. It is easy to become complacent about maintenance once we've completed restoration of an old trailer, but the close up inspection while waxing can be helpful in finding potential problems, like a small section of J rail where the putty tape had shrunk enough for possible water intrusion (All it needed was a carefully applied bit of Gutter Seal.)
Sadly, our plans for adventuring with our trailer this summer have been derailed by Covid-19. We have chosen to stay home this summer. That said, the camper is my favorite place for a well deserved nap after tending the gardens and chickens.

Yup, this is why we do this - for the big bucks. I did this for a Fireball I took down 4 years ago and was surprised how little all the skins were worth. Hardly worth the time I put into saving it, but at least it's not in some landfill and it pays for some gas and a frappucino on the way back. Cheers, Rod

Today I took the old skin from my Airflyte to the recycling place. 130 pounds of vintage camper.
.
They paid me $31.97 in cold, hard cash.
lol. I took a $2000 refrigerator, $500 dryer and $200 grill. I think I got around $40

Look what came today for the Shasta...
the mattress not the piano.
It's 2 1/2" too wide so I'll cut it and my sister will resew the cover.
When I'm roughing it in the wilderness only a 10" memory foam mattress will do!

Now we're cooking with gas. Well, cooking with gas, refrigerating, lighting, and CPAPs with solar power. LiFePO4 battery with built-in bluetooth monitoring.

With a mattress like that you would think he would make room for the piano to have while roughing it, and it doesn't need electricity. Excellent for boon docking.

Re-veneered upper cabinet back in place, looks like a decent match to the original one on the right. Mounting the upper, dry fitting the new center ceiling panel, and installing the giant lithium ion battery in the tall cabinet took about three days, a typical overthinking/overengineering pace for me, which is why this project is in year three. I had a horrifying epiphany- here I am in year three, with easily another 8-10 months to go, and it probably took the factory no more than a day to build this thing to begin with. Ah, well.

Looks great. When you say you re-veneered the cabinet do you mean you put new veneer over the old paneling? Or did you replace the paneling itself?

One of the upper cabinets in the Cardinal had some minor cosmetic veneer damage, and since I'm getting ready to replace the adjacent roof work it was now or never. I started just sanding the old veneer smooth to give a good base for a layer of fresh veneer, but it turned out to be easier just to strip off the whole layer and start from scratch. This is why I'm in year three of this not-taking-on-another-project project.
How thick was the new veneer? I'm trying to figure out how you got it to bend. Was it the kind of veneer that comes in an almost paper thin roll? Or wood?

Left you a question on that thread. I'm still fairly confused. LOL... On the next page of the thread (page 7) I go into fairly deep detail of how I did it. It is the thin stuff often sold rolled, and can be cut with good scissors.
