Hello all, I’m new to the form and a very proud owner of a 1970 Shasta. I’m currently looking to replace her single axle. She is a 16 footer, gross weight of 2400 , tire size ST 205/75/R14. I live in Pearland, TX. Can anyone recommend a place or a website to purchase a new or a refurbished axle? Thank you & stay claim and camp on ! Sylvia

Hi Sylvia,Welcome to the forum!Iam surprised no one has responded to your request yet,but then we're all busy bees here! Refurbishing axles are far and few, best to get new 3500 lb,there all over the net at various prices, can't speak for quality though, only design which is what I was looking for most.Pacific trailers had the drop design I sought,so went with it.The negative blogs if found later on this business were all true,3wks wait for nothing. So found Croft axles, customed one up fast and couldn't be happier. The spring seat options are extra,do some home homework on what fits your budget best? Good luck with your decision. Mark

I would try etrailer for a new axle. I've got a 1965 compact and 1958 airflyte. Both have drop axles. Etrailer will have a tutorial/ guide on how to measure and determine which axle you will need. I did not have to replace any of mine. They were rusted pretty good. I painted them with POR15 and they look great. I've ordered new brake parts, bearings, etc from etrailer. Been very pleased with them.

I have a 1965 Shasta that I am currently at the axle stage. Got the frame sanded and painted with POR15 as well. I have the axle off and broken down. The magnets still work. Was thinking of doing what you did and just refurbishing. Couple of questions if I may:
1. Where did you order the parts from to rebuild brakes?
2. How did you clean the leaf springs before painting with POR15?
Thanks in advance!
Carl
