Fixed! VIKX your first picture was the clue. It was the spring going over the lip on the front. For some reason, the front part of the spring had fallen down and thus there was no tension on the lever. When I put the front part of the spring on the left and put the screw back through, no easy task, it works perfectly. So at this point, I won’t be purchasing the replacement kit. Thank you, everyone, for your ideas and advice.

Fixed. The first picture above from vikx gave me the clue. The spring should come over the front lip. Mine, for some reason, had come off. A little bit of a challenge putting it back as there is a fair amount of tension. Once it was back, it all works perfectly. Thanks for the help!
