The Bargman 99 taillight has two bulbs. One is a dual filament stop/tail/turn bulb. The second bulb is a single filament bulb. Is the second, single filament bulb, to be wired to the tail wire, or the stop/ turn wire? Thanks

Usually, the single filament is an extra running light but I've seen them used as a booster blinker as well. The filament isn't really designed to be a turn/brake signal but you'll get a little extra light doing it that way. So, it's either or. Be sure to ground the plate; they need it. I rivet an extra ground onto the plate.
Some trailers actually had an extra wire to the tail for just that extra bulb. Not sure the theory behind it, maybe to be SURE the tails worked?

Do you have the two bulbs in both tails, or only one? On mine, the second single-fil bulb is on the left side, and illuminates the license plate through a clear cutout in the bottom of the lens.
This is on the '70 Shasta though, I have to dig out the tails that came on the '64 and see what their story was. Now I am curious and can't remember.

PLEASE NOTE: The above diagram color scheme is 4 way. For a 7 way color code, Green is TM (tail and markers) and Brown is right turn/Red is left turn.
If I could get my hands on whoever color coded 4 ways different from 7, I would wring their neck...

With the above diagram, both bulbs light up when running lights are on, or headlights. Is this correct?

Yes, both bulbs are running lights. The double filament bulb is also the brighter blinker/brake light.

I thought the dual bulb was a hold over from the 6V days.

I know very little about 6 volt systems tho I did upgrade our 34 Ford to 12 volt...
I have seen odd wiring configs on some trailers. The 66 Kit Companion had two running light wires connected inside the plug. Have always wondered why one would need tails and running lights separate.
Of course this allows burning the clearance lights when parked as a signal to friends. Also allows the running lights to work if the tails fail. Odd, to me.
