My rear window had a fight with a falling 2x4 and lost. Do you just take a pane to a glass shop and have them match it? TrailerTrasher? Get it cut at a hardware store and sand the edges?

We did the same for Hamlet, he had multiple panes missing. The folks at the glass shop (as did everyone else) wanted to see Hamlet when we were done. They were actually proud of being part of the process.

Don’t tell them it’s from a camper. Tell them it’s from a shed or building. I told one glass place mine was a camper and they said by law they would have to do safety glass on a vehicle.

Yeah, one guy gave my wife this huge lecture about how illegal it was and how even if he cut it, he could not legally install it (as if I would let him). Home Depot sells different lengths, but only in packs of 5...wish I had someone nearby to split it with.

I have a good friend that owns a glass shop and he has a 2 sq ft minimum. I spent $110 on 6 jalousie panes and the larger piece on the front window. You can cut it yourself if you had some scrap glass. I didn’t won’t to go that route.

Mirror Company's should be able to cut it also. They get plain glass in different thickness's in stock. Check with some of them in your area. I have a friend that works at a glass distributor. He delivers glass throughout the area, He has cut all kinds of glass for me. I know I am lucky..... Debra

Jumping on the thread in the hopes that someone can help.
The problem: The bottom pane of jalousie glass in the front window of my '63 Compact Shasta was busted out when I got it. It's boarded over, but I want to replace the glass. Are all the Shasta jalousie front window standard size, and if so, what are the pane dimensions? I've identified it as a 1600 Hehr 5-pane (but I could be wrong). What complicates the issue is that the Shasta is in storage in Nevada and I live in California. I did take measurements on my phone when I was last there, which then died and I lost the notes I took.
This Shasta is going to require years of restoration... I'm trying to figure out how I can work on it more than twice a year! THANK YOU!

Most of my jalousies have been 4" and 3/16" thick. You'll need to know the length...

Yup, 4" and 3/16. I cheaped out and got the 1/8" glass because it was $5 at my local ace, polished the edge myself with emery cloth and hid it at the top of the window so you barely see the edge.

I had one replaced by a glass shop and they had no problem cutting me a piece, however it was a bit thicker than mine was but I fit it in, a little snug, and it works fine. I did have to kind of make sure they got to it, we live in a small but busy town and the small shops here, friendly but don't like to tinker with small projects, they always put them off for the bigger bucks. I do have a salvage shop not far from me (Jacksonville, FL) that I found a bunch of jalousie panes (different sizes) for about $5 each. Mine cost about $20 to have cut. I'll go to the salvage place next time. I might even pick up a couple of spares just to have on hand. Can't have too many camper parts laying around! LOL

I found a stack of jalousie glass in various lengths at my local used building materials store (similar to a ReStore). They aren't tempered, so they could get cut to the correct length. They were cheap, but at the time, I didn't need them.

They were cheap, but at the time, I didn't need them. I kept trying to remember to stop at our habitat store but never got to it. Jalousie windows weren't ever in style in my town as far as I recall, but maybe there were some odd balls here and there.
