Maybe the seller meant to say there is $500 worth of parts that could be salvaged off of it ??

Just the panel to replace the interior is about $500. New tires would run about $250 of the $500. Just towing that shell home is gonna run close to $500, by the time you have the equipment needed to keep it from falling onto the road. I suppose the truth is, "depending on what all you want to do with it". If you are making a flatbed to haul junk to the dump...that is, all the rest of the trailer besides the frame, then maybe it could be fixed up for $500....
If it weren't gutted, it might be worth close to the asking price. As is, even taking a zero off is still quite an investment.

It makes me so sad to see a mess like this. Yeah, $120 would be a good price... for him to pay someone to take it off his hands.

If any Vintage Trailer Nuts owned this Shasta.. wanted to sell it. What do you think would be fair ? What words would you have for the person standing on your property who told you it was junk and they offered you 100.00 for it. (With wings ) ?

Hi Friends,
I totally agree with everything that's been said regarding the value of what used to be a trailer and is now a carcass.
But, see, here's the logic in this price. The seller will sell it to someone who thinks gutting a trailer is ok. That buyer will be grateful that someone already gutted it. They will haggle a little and everyone goes away a winner.
but on the way home...
Just my 2 cents.

What words would you have for the person standing on your property who told you it was junk and they offered you 100.00 for it. (With wings ) ? Easy. Tell him what it would cost to get it done or tell him what the parts that on it will sell for. Or just tell him no thanks I’m gonna let it ride on Craigslist and see what happens. It has all the components for a one off build. Try to scrape all that up for $1200. The only thing I don’t see is the stove. That could be a problem. Has the Shasta emblem on front. That’s $100, has the door handle under the new and improved door handle that’s $100 or one off of bay for $600. All those windows at $100 a piece and original wings are pretty much priceless.

Most "Vintage Trailer Nuts" understand that after gutting like this, it's junk.

My friends call me a Vintage Trailer Nut. I take it with a smile. I would buy this trailer. Not for as much as 1200.00 But not as low as 100.00. There is value there. Although I respect all the people who take a trailer down to the frame and wheel bearings and reconstruct it. I will not never take on a project like that. And I see the reward they get in it. But it is not my place to say what they Must start with or if it is financially worth it.

Most "Vintage Trailer Nuts" understand that after gutting like this, it's junk. I guess so but most restorations I see from “trailer nuts” they pretty much rebuild everything and then add new skin. I’m partial to these models and I guess I’m just looking at the parts it has because I know how hard they are to come by in this part of the world.

Well, let's see. The roof leaks like a sieve. So, reskin the roof. Not cheap, but quite do-able. Probably all new frame up there. The rest of the skin actually looks decent. However with all that leaking, likely needs a lot of frame replacement in the walls. since it has been stripped out, I would put a new interior into it rather than attempt to do a vintage. There is quite a bit that could be done with this little coach. Bracing it would be simple with some 2X4s. Putting two or three trusses in it for the trip would be relatively easy and just go slow on the way home. I have to agree though. This is a five hundred dollar (or so) trailer. Yet another trailer ruined by a numbskull (not the word I wanted, but I also don't want to be banned) and abandoned in the middle. I am so glad it's on the other side of the country from me...
