I finished my Birch plywood last fall by putting 3 coats of amber and two coats of clear on them. When I was ready I installed a few of them onto the side frames and put the sides up and attached to the floor framework. My trailer is undercover - carport - and protected from rain and snow. But I have noticed that the plywood has blushed over the winter - probably due to the frigid snowy weather of February, and humidity that goes with it. I always meant to go over it again with another coat of clear shellac and denatured alcohol, I just hope it removes the white blushing from the paneling .

I figured out a fix for my blushing shellac today. I got out my heat gun and using it's lowest setting, I went over the paneling carefully, and Wa La, the white stuff disappeared. So use the heat gun about an inch or so from the surface of the paneling on the lowest setting - go back and forth, up and down and it will eventually disappear. Yea!!! I put on a coat of Trewax paste wax over the Shellac, hoping to seal it and keep the humidity from reentering the finish. I'd show photos but I haven't figured out how yet...but the photos are on my blog if you want to go look. trishgoldsmith.blogspot.com/

Interesting. Where were your birch panels constructed? Seems like it's moisture or contaminants like adhesive in the panels causing the shellac failure? My panels are from Malaysia and after subjected to the summer heat in the camper showed some popping and splitting in the shellac. I'll have to try the heat gun on a small area because reapplying shellac in place is not fun.
As a slight aside, I recently learned that a heat gun on faded grey automotive plastic like bumpers will bring out the natural oils and turn the plastic black again.... Been doing my truck a little at a time.

My 1965 Fan has all original birch that I refinished with a couple coats of clear shellac five years ago. Occasionally I see that blushing near the floor when it is really cold out. It goes away when weather dries and warms up a bit. Really worried me the first time it happened though!
