Hi. I am new to this forum. I am helping my son restore a 1967 Aljo 13 foot Sportsman trailer. He got it for $200 and it was in fair condition. It has been fun working together on this project. He has focused on the exterior work and I have been doing the interior work. Thus far we have removed the skin and repaired the exterior walls where rot existed. Skin is back on with new insulation, wiring, framing and inside walls. We got allot of great information from Mobiltec (Larry) from his website Canned Ham Trailers. We hope to finish most of the work so the kids can go camping in the summer of 2014. The inside work is coming along....full gut and so far i have framed the bed, table seats, closet, cook area cabinets. I need to build a new bunk over the table. Any ideas are welcome.....

My first idea is that you should share some photos. This sounds like exactly the story I live for. Sharing in the process is so cool, and the end results are never the "end"!... Welcome on board and I think it is going to be so fun "looking over your shoulder" on your rebuild! P.S. It is always gratifying to know you have already gotten some help from here and the resources that are around.

There are several ways to do a bunk. You need to figure out how large you need it to be, then if you have room for it, then how much weight it needs to hold ( most are limited to 150 lbs.) then I would try to study other trailers or at least pictures as to how they made theirs. Some are canvas pole bunks, some are wood folding bunks that fold up against the wall and ceiling, some are permanent located and just there all the time although not very many most fold out of the way. If you come up with a basic idea of what you want/need then ask questions and someone can probably give you help.
