The brochures are great.
I really liked our 1500. A nice layout. But sleeps 6???
Maybe if four people are under 3' tall.

Mine is laid out just like this windows and all. The sink and stove are in the same location as the page above... shasta moved by debra branch, on Flickr I know its hard to see with the trees in the way, but it has windows on both sides of the gaucho bed. made to sleep 6 it has 3, 4foot wide bunks, F989A596-B965-4F01-93C2-A3FF0E8C6CF0 by debra branch, on Flickr It has 4 windows on the street side. Somehow I think that the compartment in the back is the key to being sure of what model this is. 10CE25B6-7191-41F4-AAF9-6D8085E7D42D by debra branch, on Flickr The exterior storage compartment is in the back. There are no other storage compartments on the outside. the area behind the wheel well is less than 4feet. I am sure of this because the gaucho bed sets on a support covering the wheel. This camper has no bathroom in it, and must have had an icebox in it because there is no vent for a refrigerator. The inside is only around 12 feet. There was no title with it so as near as I can get with the year is mid to late 60s, based on the breaks in the skin, the spear, and type of windows. I posted info in the vin section last year but no luck so far Ross has not been on for a while now so if anyone has any ideas they would be welcome. Thanks Debra

Sounds like a 1500, then, just wondered because I could not tell for sure from the photos posted. The VIN does not absolutely determine the model, but because of the large collection of VIN's that Ross has, he's been able to find patterns of "runs" of a model at the different plants. All these brochures are posted in the Shasta section of the board. Glad that I can help...if it is any help.... Very helpful. I had to go look at mine again to make sure. Shasta seems to have just done redundant things and called it a different name kind of like Thor industries does today. Change the tires to Bridgestone and call it a different name. and NCc camper I agree if there were six people in there I’d be heading to sleep outside. Hope our trailer looks as nice as yours though when it’s done.

Debra,
I see you have the same tongue jack as I do....and it looks to be just as functional! The nut stripped out on my jack. I pulled it apart hoping to fix it, but it looked terminal. I ordered up a new jack and have it sitting there waiting to be bolted on.
When I pulled the old jack I measured the top hole and it was just over 2". So I ordered a jack that claimed to be and was verified by reviews to be exactly 2". Went to drop it in and realized the lower hole was slightly smaller than the top hole. It was close enough that a couple minutes with a round file probably would have fixed it, but I grabbed a 2" hole saw to make quick work of it. Now I just have to decide if I'm going to bolt it down or weld it on.

debranch, I am pretty sure it is a 1500, judging by the front windows. The Airflyte Deluxe was only made one year (as far as I know...) in '63. Yours is a later model. Shasta switched away from the canned-ham shape following the 1964 model year. The flatter top models (what I call toasters...some may argue...) came out for 1965. The 6" brakes were used in the siding until about late-'67 to early-'68, when the "gold-stripe" models appeared. The spear stripe was used during that time period, roughly '65 - '67. The real tell-tale may be in the overall dimensions. There are not a lot of resources that seem to span a lot of years, but there are brochures that listed the dimensions and features. The Airflyte was considered a 16-ft trailer, measured 15'-7" bumper to ball. The 1500 would have been a 15' bumper to ball, approx. 13' cabin. However I am not sure the exact dimension. I believe the widths may have differed as well. orshastaI feel your pain... I have a couple of those jacks laying around in back of the barn that were rusted solid or would turn to freely without any function. The two different hole sizes catch everyone by surprise.

Maybe if four people are under 3' tall. Shasta claimed all kindza room for sleeping in all their models. I think the Compact slept 16 or 17. They were sorta the "clown car" of travel trailers in their time. I suppose if you consider that people were more active and fit then, and they liked each other a lot more than we tend to now, then maybe 6 people may have been able to stand each other long enough to sleep in a 1500.
For now, I will be testing out how well the 16SC sleeps one this season.

Hi Debra, that looks like a '67 1500 for sure. Here is my '67 1500. Sorry for the photo quality I can't find the better ones. Here is the PO when they were working on...

OrShasta was the OP for this thread over 4 years ago. I was wondering what happened to his restore of his 1963 Shasta. I have seen the video on youtube about this trailer previously, but then news fell off. I am hoping for an update. I have the exact same model, but without the floor heater and Z stripe. Pretty much the same condition and water damage around the roof vent. Powdery paint, as well. Cheers, Rod
