I wanted to swing by and introduce myself and my new project.
I live on the west side of Oregon, or as many call it, the wet side. So finding vintage trailers with no water damage is a bit tough around here. But I picked up this 63 shasta the other day that looks like a decent restoration candidate.
I put together this quick video walk around of the trailer. I've learned a few things since the video was made. I now believe this is a shasta 1600 camper....although I'm still not 100% Ive tested out the propane range and it works fine. The oven is definitely missing something. The propane lamp works great.
It will be a month or two before i can spend any real time on this project. But as I do I'm sure I'll be back with more videos and pictures to document the journey.

Welcome
It looks like the end run of the Airflyte. The stove to the rear is a surprise. It’s missing the guts of the oven. The Thermocouple is there but none of the gas system.
Keep in mind that the rot (like around the vent) needs repaired from the outside working in to the panel. So the roof must come off. With that said, the camper is a great candidate for restoration. As unmolested as they come these days.
Keep us posted.

Going in through the roof seems like the right way to do it.
Any suggestions on where to get the missing stove parts?

Email trailertrasher1@gmail.com. He has the best used parts. It’s like a Walmart for vintage shoppers. Mobiletec has a video of trailertrasher’s inventory..

Nice find! Thanks for the video. The color seems to be the same as my 64. My interior is the same color as yours too. Enjoy the journey.

You would be better off to buy a complete stove if you can. They are not all the same, even tho the same brand. I would guess the oven valve croaked and the PO pulled the guts to utilize the oven space. So even the parts might not get it up and running.
Trailertrasher will have advice for you, too.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to get some better pictures of the stove tomorrow and email trailertrasher.

Love it! I would make sure the heating element isnt sitting under the piece on the bottom with the circles cut out around the edges, because that piece is supposed to sit up higher on the ledge and the heating element/flame comes out from under that. Cant wait to watch you restore it

Welcome from Hamlet and his people, denizens of “wetstern” Washington. You have a wonderful project there and we’re glad you have chosen to do the repairs correctly. Ross I s a member/moderator here and has been around since the days of the old Vintage Shasta Trailer Forum. He keeps a database on trailer VINs and has been able to correctly identify both year and model for many of us. You can send him a PM with the VIN husually stamped on the inside street side of the hitch and what you suspect to be the year and model. Best of luck (not really luck, just perseverance) with your restoration. We are here to help people do things correctly, not necessarily the easiest or cheapest way. We figure that we’ll have a lot more fun with our little pieces of history if they’re safe.

Welcome from Canada. I live your enthusiasm! I am the same way about my project which is right down to the studs at the moment. We love cheering each other on in this forum. When I started I knew nothing and bought a really bad trailer. Once I met these people I decided to sell that one for parts and buy a better restoration candidate. The people on here have coached me step by step through disassembly, replacing all rot and now I am on the wiring, plumbing and refinishing the interior stage. I’m really glad for this forum and all the folks here. They will be a big help to you!

You can connect with Ross by going to the home board and scroll down to shasta trailer boards. You will see Shasta vin and title.
