After many years of driving my Nissan frontier it’s time to upgrade. I’m considering a full size truck and want to know if there is any reason the integrated brake controllers would not work with vintage braking systems (1953-56) I realize it’s just a switch but wanted to be sure there would not be issues adjusting it. Some of the new trucks have sway control which senses sway and applies the brakes. All this new fangled technology where the car takes over kinda freaks me out but I suppose it’s safer!
I’m considering a chevy silverado 4x4 crew cab btw.

I'm guessing the new controller will be fine. Some older 50s trailers had 6 volt brakes but the controllers are adjustable. Also, there are reducers if the trailer doesn't like your newer controller; they mount on the trailer tongue.
Great truck you are considering!

I own a Silverado with the two pkg which includes the controller it works as good or better than any controller That I have used in the last 60 years, and that includes almost every type of controller ever made. On top of that I love my Silverado.

On top of that I love my Silverado. I am glad to hear that! This will be my first new car and also my first car payment ouch. I’ve always bought used vehicles. I’m finding tho that a low mileage not too old truck is still so expensive that I can get a 2018 for not much more.
