It's gonna be a grind... PO (not the lady I got it from) installed all new #10 screws in the J rails, painted it with a roller? and really liked all those little brackets to hold stuff together. The edge wood is gone, holding tank broken and sitting on the bench, furnace missing and it needs new roof metal. Oh Joy.
Oops: Forgot the door is missing...

Over the time I have been looking around casually (read that "completely obsessively") at these old Shasta models, I have found this to be one of the most rare models. I am really glad to see you get this one to salvage it! It seems like the paneling was removed with a chain saw, or they let a beaver run loose in it, but there is still a lot of the original interior, parts, and structure to build from. There will be a lot of return on investment also, if you sell all those brackets for scrap value!

You are a glutton for punishment. Or sick. Maybe both... LOL...
That being said, are you going to completely repanel her in Birch? Because you can just forget about obtaining any ash now. I gave up and am trying to match the ash in the 59 with some oak. If that doesn't work out I may have to completely repanel this trailer. Waiting on the customers to show up now to ask about that possibility.

I'll probably go with birch, yup. All the wall panels and ceiling are gone anyway. Will know more after sorting parts today. It will be a while before the build begins; have 2 in front of it.
When I did the Deluxe, I found some swirly birch that "almost" matched the ash cabinetry. That trailer came with all sorts of parts, along with birch ceiling panels. It was only 4 panels to do the walls. (figured a person could always skin over the birch with ash, ha ha) Also, the original cabinets were 3 different woods, framing a bit darker, drawers reddish pine and ash paneling. You're right on whatever was laying around...
I guess we'll just go with the flow on the SCS. It's not going to be a museum piece. Nothing is ever perfect around here. Well built makes me happy.

Big Project.. Nice find.. You guys have more than a few of these things under the belt. You have a big Photobucket, nice looking trailers and travels.

Thanks. It's what keeps me goin'.... I dream about these things.
Found the door and added a stick to the bottom, then re-hung it temporarily. (keeps the critters at bay) Harry Cat caught a big RAT and murdered it. Good for him. Found all sorts of goodies in the trailer, including a used Fantastic Fan. Hey, if it works, why not? Lady had done a cool notebook with Shasta Wing instructions, refinishing tips and another Shasta build, plus original photos from the PO. The L 66 is there, clean eyebrows and an extra L 300? Oh, and yuk: toilet and the holding tank with a hole in the bottom.
I seriously need to take a trip to the dump.

Congrats! I still haven't been able to find my next one. Been looking for about 4 months now. I even run a regular ad in the local paper, still with no results.

I have two that I am working on for customers and two that are mine, one of which is being stripped of paint right now and the other which I haven't done a thing to except keep the tires full of air since I got it. OH and then there is the little Layton that I can NOT register so it's going to become a permanent structure.... Actually I have a permanent trailer license plate that I use to move trailers around so I can use it all I want... Screw the DMV... I tried to give them money. They don't want it.

Can't wait to see what you do with it; especially since Deuce is the same model.

Love the colors! I was thinking of the same combo for mine someday… or aqua green & cream. Are you going to keep the colors? I hope you don't mind if I copy….
I find it interesting that the aluminum skin seems to be white or cream on one side and red on the other side. Obviously from the factory on this right? Isn't that a bit unusual?
Anyway you are BRAVE!!!! to tackle this project… I would have peaked my head in and them run away scared!
Ours is of course our first trailer… and along with it I am going to be taking allot of "Baby Steps" … just like a new Mom trying to figure it all out! YIKES!
