Sorry for the barrage of questions this weekend...just trying to figure out what is normal. My camper is 12" from the ground to the bottom of the C-Channel. This also means that the jack is only 6" from the ground. Any other campers riding this low when level?

Our Shasta Airflyte is about 12" to the C-Channel. On the Forester about 14"
The actual low point is obviously the leaf spring clamps at around 6".
The step on the Forester is also about 6" off the ground.

What is the C-Channel? My Shasta Compact sits very low too and trying to decide on a fix.

Butch Cassidy (57 Shasta 1500) was 8" at the front and rear corners. I changed the axle to below the springs which gave me about 12". (not sure until the tires go on) Butch came with low profile tires and original 15" wheels which would NOT clear the hub and body, even flat. I think they might now work but time will tell.

This makes me think my springs are really not too bad with the trailer sitting at 11-12" high. I really think it's the springs on my Tacoma that make the ride slightly bouncy.

I changed the axle to below the springs which gave me about 12". I've heard that mentioned a few times and was wondering if it was a safe and widely accepted solution.

If you move the axle from above the springs to below it's OK. But flipping the axle puts the wrong toe on the wheels, so they wear the tires funny.
Butch was extremely low and had dragged in the back quite a bit. Edge trim is being straightened as I write. I would guess if a trailer is 'normal' height, lowering the axle might raise the trailer too much.
