Hehr 4900 series. All the stuff I find about taking apart jalousie windows is the kind with no frames around the glass.
I could remove these screws where the arm meets the frame around the glass, but couldn't remove the inner frame.
I also tried removing the screws holding the outer frame together at the corners, which would separate it into 4 pieces, but I only managed to get 2 out, the others I would have had to damage just to get them to budge.
I'm sure I could remove the seals without disassembly, but I'm not sure how I'd get the new seals in. Primarily the flappy seal at the top, and the side seals.
Ok, that's the one I was worried about, since the slot for that strip is facing away from me. I can access the bottom strip just fine, but the side strips look impossible without some kind of disassembly. I might just brush them with stiff nylon and call it good enough. I'm not expecting this thing to be air tight, my main concern is keeping water out.
Is there a good way to clean it up with the weather strips still on the windows? I'm not looking for a polished finish, but getting a lot of the oxidation off would be nice. I'm assuming acid bath is out of the question?
Or I could just tape off the glass with several layers, and use a soft-ish brass wire wheel everywhere I can safely reach without hitting a seal.
