Thanks for the suggestion on both the mantles and a little more clean out. I'll report back.

I crafted my own locks. For the propane tanks I drilled a hole in the existing hardware. For the Battery I bent up a 1" metal strap...and a keyed alike master lock. Both very strong. Anything can be cut or stolen. This is just to slow them down a little.

I might add that I'm using a Coleman lantern mantle...should I try something different?

We had our trailer out last weekend and I wanted to show my wife how cool the little gas lamp was over the sink. I had only tested it at home...but during the daytime. It wasn't until I lit it to show off while camping that I realized it is very dim! There is a simple lever at the bottom of the lamp marked OFF and ON. I've used these mantle style lamps hundreds of times in my life and know sometimes they burn so bright you can't hardly stand to look directly at them. When the lever is turned all the way to the left...ON it appears that there is too much gas as a flame is visible around the mantle. As I turn the lever back towards the OFF position the flame diminishes and the mantle starts to glow brighter but only about 1/2 of it glows...turn the lever further towards the OFF position and it goes completely out. I fiddled with it for about 10 min. Moving the lever in very small increments but never got it to burn good and bright. Is there something I'm not doing correctly?

No...just going off the Airflyte specs. I'd like to weigh it. There is a landscape company up the road from me with a drive on scale. I'll try to swing by there one day and weigh my truck...then I'll go over one day with the trailer hitched on. I'll let you know how that goes.

... Glad everything went well for your first trip out. Let me know how that little colorado towed, the good and bad, feel free to message me. My little Colorado did great. There were a couple of steep grades where I was just following the other slower moving traffic up hill in the slow lane...but it handled great. I never felt like we were unsafe or getting squirrelly on the road. I didn't go over 70 MPH...tried to keep it between 60-65 MPH and always felt in control. My usual highway mileage went down quite a bit. We normally get between 25 and 28 MPG on the highway unloaded...just the wife and I but this trip was down at 16 MPG. I did install a class 3 hitch...not the bumper hitch. I'm also going to install a brake controller so I can utilize the trailer brakes...but didn't get it done before we left this time. All in all it was a great experience. I wouldn't hesitate putting it on and doing it all again.

Hubs and tires worked well...I don't have a brake controller or wiring for brakes yet on my truck so I can't comment on the trailer brakes working...but that's in the works to get the controller installed. My truck had no issues braking or stopping this little trailer so no scary moments on the highway.

Can you please tell me where you got the countertop edging? I'm looking for something similar for my 1972 Shasta. TIA I purchased at the Home Depot...but you've got you order it...they don't normally stock it. It comes in 8' lengths. I purchased 3 pieces I think...It worked great and looks beautiful. You've got to drill your own holes, but that works out better I think. That way you can put screws in where you need them. Careful on the bends...it tends to kink if you bend tighter than about a 3" radius. Here is a link... www.homedepot.com/p/Alexandria-Moulding-1-4-in-x-15-16-in-x-96-in-Metal-Mira-Lustre-Grooved-Edging-Moulding-AT018-AM096C03/205576705Good luck.

Okay...Got the wheels all on and looking good. I installed 205/75-15's. I sure wish they made a lower profile trailer tire but this is as small as they get. The trailer had 225/75-15's on it when I got it and they were way too fat and rubbed. Glad these are a little shorter and quite a bit narrower. Take a gander. Chrome beauty trim rings from Amazon and center hub caps from VTS. Be careful installing them. They are very thin and will dent easily. But they do look great!

Very nice job. I’ve enjoyed your build thread because it’s close to the same one I’m building. Has it been in a rain storm yet? That’s my biggest fear is that when I ever get mine to this stage that I will have a leak. I’ve read some threads that people try to simulate a rain with sprinklers to check for leaks or actually sit in the trailer during a storm to check for leaks. Yes a little rain...before I had it sealed completely. Nothing since I feel it's all buttoned up. I live in AZ and rain hasn't been my biggest concern...not like the 10 years we lived in Oregon!!! I am concerned though. I really don't want anymore water damage. But I think I did everything possible to seal it up. I used an automotive seam sealer around all the seams / joints before painting, then good butyl tape everywhere else. Really my biggest concern is the rear window. The way the back of the trailer is designed it slopes the window in at the top making the bottom edge pron to catch / hold water and allow it to leak. Sunny weather preojected all this week so I don't anticipate any problems our first time out... It's stored under a cover so really the only time it'll see rain is when we're camping. It's bound to happen but hopefully not this first time out.

I completely disassembled the rigid gas piping, cleaned inside and out and then put back together... I also got the tongue completely put together...including anti-theft measures for the propane tanks & battery... I also got new window screens in to keep the bugs out. And the ever important screen door with new screen installed and functioning as it should. It's all these little details that are fun to get back on the trailer...makes it feel and look finished! Last week to get things ready to go camping...We're looking forward to next weekend and our maiden voyage! I still have to check the plumbing / water system (for leaks). and I'm waiting for one more electrical item to show up this week...but getting very close. Side note...new record today. I had 4 people stop by and ask if it was for sale. That's a new one day record for me. Another evidence it's almost finished and looking great.

Yep...as mentioned the J-rail stops and the awning rais goes in between. Here's a close up of mine back by the wing. I have a '65 Airflyte with the more square shape like your Compact. Awning starts about 3" in on the rear and 2" in up front...right as the radius terminates. My J-rail was beat to hell...I straightened as best I could.
