Were Shasta’s, specifically 63 Astrodome J rail originalltbpainted or left aluminum? Mine looks like it was originally painted, but not sure if that’s right.

Cleaning and polishing my front Astrodome window. It’s the one with two solid panes and two sets of jalousies panes. I see now that there is a small ballet hole in the front window. Could be a rock chip, but bullet hole makes a better story.
I don’t see any way to get the glass out or put a new one back in. Any ideas? Melissa

It needs to be dark or dusty rose. I tried to mix salmon (red, white and yellow) but it turned out a little on the pink side. I'm wondering if adding grey would salmon it up a bit. Check for color chips at the local paint store. Pick the closest to salmon as you can and have them mix a small test can to try. Paint a larger chip and see how it looks. Lighting in the store can really confuse you, so check outside, too. Thanks. Good idea to get a small sample mixed up.

This is the swatches of all the elements. New “endora” countertops in pink and beige, the large red with flecks of pink is fabric for the sofa, the vinyl seats will be beige with pink piping, and the curtains are the mcm fabric in the background. flic.kr/p/27JMoac

We are almost ready for paint on our 63 Shasta Astrodome. I would like it somewhat period correct. I’m looking for a salmon or coral color that was popular in that era. I’m worried about it turning out baby or pepto Bismol pink. I do not want it “glampy” though I love vintage.
Any suggestions for finding this color? We were able to color match on our Yellowstone from some metal that still had original color. The shasta was an almost total rebuild so we didn’t stick with the original turquoise paint scheme.
Thanks in advance!

We have an eBay used Bargman L66 and a replacement cylinder since it didn’t have any keys. How do we get the old cylinder out? I’ve sear he’s here and old photos are referenced but missing in the huge phot robbery.
What’s the trick? We see the little hole on the exterior of the lock that seems like that’s where the retaining pin is. Do we press that in or punch it through?

Is 1/16 x 1” putty something usually available locally?

Yes. I think I found the right one, same as for the small Hehr side windows.

We are finally on the home stretch on our 63 Astrodome project. I’m missing gasket for my Hehr windows so getting ready to place an order from VTS.
I just realized I have nothing for the weird front side windows. Is there a gasket I need for them? It’s been so long since we tore everything apart I can’t remember how they were trimmed out of finished. I do still have the original al glass.

We are finally (after 3 years in progress) of putting final touches on our Astrodome. I can’t find a photo anywhere of where the magazine rack goes. That wall has been completely rebuilt and the phone I had when we purchased was lost along with most of my photos.
I’ve searched on here but haven’t been able to find a photo of the entrance door side on an Astrodome. Thanks, Melissa

There were several screws already in the base of the ac. Almost all of them lined up with holes in the drawer slides. We drilled a couple new holes in the slides where needed. The ac slides in along the base of the cabinet, so when trailer is underway it won't be bouncing along on the rails. On the inside of the cabinet the drawer slides are acrewed to 1x4's that are secured to the inside of the old stove cabinet. I'll see if I have some photos.

You might be able to fabricate a door, depending on the hinge config. I'd talk to TrailerTrasher to see if he has one in his arsenal the right size... Pictures would help us visualize what you're trying to do. This is where we are at. We went ahead and framed it out. It's 14 tall by 19.5 wide. I finally found a square cornered baggage door that fits those dimensions, but it's pricey. $135 before shipping. I may take a look at the vintage trailer supply one and see if I can make it work. Trying out tapatalk so I can post a photo from my phone. Let's see how it works... with the ac retracted into the trailer and pulled out via the heavy duty drawer slides.
