This was my original water tank- since removed. IMG_0195 by kathy, on Flickr This piece was under the camper- connected to the water tank through the floor. IMG_3623 by kathy, on Flickr I was assuming it was the drain-but now am wondering. Is that all it was used for? It wouldn't be a city water hook up- as it went directly to the tank. Am I right? If its not, my camper does not have a connector for city water. Is that true of 63 Shastas? Thanks

Most of the old water tanks have something like that connected to them to drain out all the left over water after the trip. Both my Compact and Airflyte had one. But they both also have city water hook up too. The airflyte has a copper line going from the faucet to right in front of the wheel well and has a hose type hook up on the end, the compacts was more a hose going from the faucet to under the trailer.

Install a brand new inlet on the side or under the trailer. Much easier than working with old stuff.

Vikx- when I connect my new city water inlet to the already installed PEX pipe from water tank- i presume there is a T connection I can get to do this? DO you have a photo? And do water pumps have check valves- so when I turn the city water on, it doesnt go back through pump? Water tank is under Street side bench- going to install city water inlet along curbside to the pex under curbside bench. Make sense? Thanks !!

Yes, the pumps have a built in check valve but you must ALWAYS use an RV water pressure regulator before your inlet. (rated at 45 PSI)
Below is an example of how the plumbing is connected. The pump inlet is the translucent tube from the tank. Outlet is the green hose. You can see the tee in line with the pump outlet going into it. The city water is teed into that and the output goes to the sink.

NOTE: The inlet MUST have a check valve to keep the pump from emptying the tank out the inlet...
